Monica Walters is an American romance author more than seven romance book series under her name. Writing has always been a part of Monica’s life. She began writing poetry as a teenager and later shifted to crafting books after falling in love for the first time. Over time she has grown fondly in love with writing, shifting from poetry to short stories and later crafted a 56k words novel and ever since she has focused on books nonstop. Being a mother and a wife has only added joy to her writing life. She has a bachelor of science in sociology, which helps her understand people and their behaviors better, making her a better writer as she can deeply connect with her characters and their intricate personalities. She writes romance of all types and doesn’t plan to take on any other genre.
I Wish I Could Be the One is Monica Walter’s Henderson Family Saga book. Meet Jenahra Henderson, who understands too well what it means to be conspicuous but strong. Even though her religious behaviors reveal themselves as snobby and judgmental of other people, they are deeply rooted in drama, pain, and abuse. Since she doesn’t want to get her family in trouble, she keeps secrets for over two decades, hiding in the veil of God’s anointing. But when the truth finally surfaces, there will be repercussions to be suffered.
Meet Carter Wothyla, who’s always thought he found his forever and happy ever after when he met Jenahra. But as they say, everything good comes to an end. He spent the never two decades traversing through the dating world aimlessly, trying to find that one woman to whom he could compare. Never marrying or having kids, Carter has found peace in being alone. But as fate would have it, he attends a wedding that sends him back to the love of his life, and this time he doesn’t let go despite the obstacles he faces along the road.
Both Carter and Jenahra share similarities. They have a past characterized by secrets, deceptions, lies, and passion. However, one thing is undeniable about them- they all share an explosive chemistry that will have the readers turning pages to find out what happens next. While Carter is ready and determined to win her, Jenahra has some critical life decisions she needs to make. Will the decisions push the man who loves her out of her life, or will she choose to give the love a chance? I Wish I Could Be the One is a novel full of drama. The story provides the reader with a better understanding of Jenahra and why she was who she was while at the same time giving us a deeper insight into her parents and their relationship when she and WJ were growing up.
The skeletons in the closets and the healing in this story are overwhelming but also necessary. Jenahra is a robust and resilient character, for she endured a lot and kept everything within her for so long. You will be happy to learn that she finally chooses what makes her happy and what she needs. Carter’s return is a catalyst that speeds up her to take the much-needed steps that put her first. Monica Walters does a fantastic job in penmanship and chooses the right words of expression and passion that guarantees to keep the readers hooked to the last page. Her writing style makes the reader feel more connected to the Henderson family and their situations. You can’t help but get true feelings thanks to the raw, emotional, and engaging story Monica presents. Gradually, you get to learn and see how the Henderson family kept their secrets well protected even from each other, but in the end, everything is busted wide open.
Published in 2022, I Want You Here is Monica Walter’s book in the Berotte Family series. While everyone in the Berotte family is finding love, marrying, and starting families, Chad Berotte’s life is at a standstill. He got a stressful job because of an issue tracking his root more than ten years ago, and his past love life has affected him negatively, losing his beloved mother being the main one. Her death played a role in his ability to give and receive a loss; he doesn’t know how to overcome this situation. He doesn’t realize it’s a problem until Alexis Fontenot comes into his life. As he tries to pursue a relationship with her, an issue arises that makes him retrieve his self-made cocoon. His heart yearns for her, but his mind wants to refuse the fact that a mere woman can make him happy again.
Alexis has been in love with a man who doesn’t seem to care for her. Her heart and body crave love, and because she lacks it, it makes her make desperate decisions that only give her temporary relief, eventually leaving her unsatisfied and unfulfilled. Just like Chat, she craves love so strongly because her father has been absent in her life forever, even though she is the one who kicked him out. Regarding Chad, Alexi has the patience and wants to wait for him to discover how strong their chemistry is, only for him to push her away because of his indecisiveness. He lacks proper communication skills, and Alexis’s endurance and patience soon fade.
The back and forth is wearing out Alexi and destroying her from the inside out. What she desires from Chad seems impossible, and she struggles with letting him go for good. On the other hand, Chad realizes that he cannot allow her to slip away from his grip yet again, or he may be unable to get her back. Will he get back together and try love, or will it be too late for him?
All the Berottes family members have suffered one way or the other regarding the death of their mother, but Chad was the most affected. Fortunately, the author gives us a fun-loving, protective Chad despite the difficulties of love. Monica Walters provides a roller coaster ride in I Want You Here that you won’t put down until the end.
