The Montgomery and Taggert series is a series of novels dealing with the romance novels featuring the Montgomery and Taggert families. The novels of the series are written by the famous American author Jude Deveraux. The novels in the series show the intersection of the two families and the resulting romantic relationships that develop between the characters of the series. The novels of the Montgomery and Taggert series depict a number of time frames, which start as early as the 13th century and go right up to the 19th century. The series also consists of a few contemporary novels that have added to the success of the series and helped author Jude Deveraux to increase her popularity as a romance writer even more. The series consists of a total of around twenty novels published between the years 198 and 2007. The first novel featuring the Montgomery family was published in the year 1980, whereas the Taggert family was first introduced in the novel Twin of Ice, which was published in the year 1985. Author Jude Deveraux is still working on the series and is about to publish the latest novel in the series in the coming days. The first novel of the Montgomery and Taggert series was published in the year 1980 under the title ‘The Black Lyon’. The novel was published by the Avon Books publishing house. The plot of the novel deals with the lives of the main characters, Earl Ranaulf de Wardbrooke or Black Lyon, as he was called, and Lady Lyonene.

The novel is set in England, United Kingdom and introduces Black Lyon as a highly rich and darkly handsome English conqueror. Having the real name Earl Wardrooke, he was often called as the Black Lyon because of his fierceness similar to that of a lion. Lyon was very rich and bold enough. There was no one like him to match his characteristics and fierceness. Lyon was considered to be one of his kind and was treated as superior to everyone else. He was so bold that there was no woman in his entire kingdom who could become his right match. However, when he meets Lyonene, he begins to fall for her and starts thinking of her as his future life partner. Lyonene is introduced in the novel as a beautiful woman with green eyes and a fiery spirit. She had all the qualities that make her the right match of the Black Lyon. Soon, the two enter into a whirlwind romance and endure each other into a stormy marriage. However, destiny had decided something else for the love birds as jealousy and vicious lies start showing their effects in their lives. Soon, Lyonene gets separated from Lyon and is forced to move into the grave danger across the Irish Sea. It was obvious that only one man could save her from her miserable life, and that was none other than the Black Lyon himself. Only he had the courage to destroy the shackles of the ruthless plot that had made them move apart from each other. The Black Lyon is determined to save Lyonene in order to protect their bond of love and keep it intact as they had vowed that it would ever be broken in any situation. After several interesting twists and turns in their lives, the Black Lyon becomes successful in winning his love back and spending the rest of his romantic life with Lyonene peacefully.

The second novel of the series was published in the year 1991 by the Pocket Books publishing house. The novel was titled ‘The Duchess’. The plot of the novel is set in London, England, United Kingdom and deals with the lives of the main characters, Claire Willoughby, Trevelyan MacArran and Harry Montgomery. The novel is set during the time of the year 1883. In the opening sequence of the novel, Claire Willoughby is introduced as an heir to a fortune worth millions of her grandfather. But, she is in a dilemma as her grandfather has asked her to marry an acceptable man if she wants to inherit his fortune. She is at the risk of losing everything if she does not follow the words of her grandfather. The next character introduced in the novel is Harry Montgomery, who is depicted as the eleventh Duke of MacArran. He seemed to be the perfect match for Claire as he was the owner of a historic castle and looked manly enough in his kilt with the title of Scotsman, similar to that of the Bonnie Prince Charlie. Soon, the engagement of Claire and Harry is announced. Claire seems to be assured of her future as a duchess as she prepares herself to set off to meet the Montgomery clan in Scotland along with her family. When they arrive at Bramley Castle, it appeared to be a chill and damp place, full of eccentric relatives of the Montgomery family.

A secretive and brooding man named Trevelyan also lived in the ancient walls of the Bramley Castle. Claire seemed to interested in Trevelyan as she found him to be fascinating. He was not like Harry and had an arrogant and exasperating attitude. But still Claire began to fall for his fascinating charm. It appeared as if her life was going to be turned upside down as her marriage to Harry Montgomery was coming nearer day by day and she was falling in love with Trevelyan MacArran. The novel shows an overwhelming romance and a love -hate relationship among the characters. The description of the characters of the novel is done in a very interesting manner by the author Jude Deveraux. She very well depicted the love life and the journey of Trevelyan MacArran and Claire Willoughby. The way she writes the different plot sequences, they seem to be very beautiful and addictive to read. The readers all over the world enjoyed reading the novel and praised Jude Deveraux for her efforts. She was also appreciated by the critics and her fellow authors for writing down such a beautiful romance. The success of the initial novels of the series motivated author Jude Deveraux to write many more such novels in the series and in other series as well. She was so much encouraged by her family and friends that she kept publishing at least one book int he series every year. Even today, she continues to work on the series and finds time to write the plots of the latest novel of the series.

Was there a book by Jude Deveraux about a photographer who fell in love and was hurt by a male model? She ended up doing book cover photos and fell in love with someone else and then drama happened.

Taggert family was first introduced in The Raider, and is also the first book in which a Taggert married a Montgomery.
