Author Morgana Best is a number one best selling author that lives in beach side town in Australia. While growing up, she used to leave Tim Tams for fairies that were in the bottom of the garden she had. She has a demanding kitty cat (who puts up with zero nonsense) that she rescued, two dogs (one is a rescued Dingo and the other is a partially blind chocolate Labrador) that are not as demanding. She used to be a college professor.

She enjoys reading cozy mysteries, renovate the old house she lives in, and re-purpose furniture. She likes huge bowls of pasta, going to the local lighthouse (where she tries to see the white Humpback whale), and not exercising. Best is also a vegan.

Best is the author of “The Kitchen Witch” series, the “Sibyl Potts” series, the “Witch Woods Funeral Home” series, the “Misty Sales” series, and “The Middle Aged Ghost Whisperer” series.

“Miss Spelled” is the first novel in “The Kitchen Witch” series and was released in the year 2015. Amelia Spelled’s week has not been going very well. Her boyfriend has just dumped her because she accidentally gave him food poisoning. The place that she works (which is a telecommunications center) fires her because they are starting to outsource, offshore. She is evicted from her apartment because of smoke damage from her baking attempts gone bad. This is just over the course of one day.

She believes that things are turning around for her right when she inherits an estranged aunt’s store, gorgeous Victorian house, and two mysterious cats. She thinks that this might actually be worse, because the shop is a cake shop and her aunt was a witch. If that was not the worst part, the house has its own secrets.

Fans of the novel found this to be a great book that will keep readers entertained until the last word of the book. Some found that they will read more and more of her work, after reading this book. It was great spending time with a great main character like Amelia; it really made the pages fly on by. This is a great cozy mystery that is also a fun read. Some hope the rest of the series is as good as this book was.

“Dizzy Spells” is the second novel in “The Kitchen Witch” series and was released in the year 2015. Amelia may be getting better at spells, but her baking has not. She has to make enough dough to be able to save her cake store business that is crumbling. That quickly becomes the last of her worries, after a corpse is found on the porch of her store. Her friend Dianne is quickly the number one suspect.

Amelia tries to clear Dianne from all charges, and finds that she has people in her life that are not who they appear to be. Craig finally takes her out on a date, but her house has opinions on the matter. Very much to her distress.

The police tell her that the case should be easy to solve, but are they just keeping her in the dark? Is she going to find out why Alder Vervain has been eyeing her? Can she solve the murder or be the next victim?

Fans of the novel found that this was another enjoyable novel to read quickly. It was interesting to see how the book ended. You get to find out even more about Alder in this book, despite not being fully sure which side he is on. Readers like the way that the characters are very different from one another, yet they make for a great big happy family. This book has a fast pace and the author is able to deftly avoid giving away who the killer is too soon.

“Sit for a Spell” is the third novel in “The Kitchen Witch” series and was released in the year 2016. Amelia Spelled is at Camino’s house, playing Clue, and one of the guests dies in the dining room. Was it Amelia’s food? There were no sign a weapon was used. Could it have something just as not pleasant but even more evil?

Camino is arrested by the police. Amelia and her friends have to sift through all of the suspects. Will she actually be able to solve the murder? What is Amelia going to do when she finds out Alder’s dark secret?

Fans of the novel love catching up with these great characters that Best has created. This is quite the series to follow for some readers; as it is a cute and clean, light hearted read that will relax readers. It is great to see Amelia and how much confidence as a witch she has gained since the first book of the series. These books are hard to put down, as some readers have to know what is going to happen next and find out who the killer is. Some cannot wait until they can read the next book in the series, as they have been hooked since the very first book.

“Spelling Mistake” is the fourth novel in “The Kitchen Witch” series and was released in the year 2016. Amelia finds an old spell book, and she finds something that delights her. There is a spell in the book that will improve someone’s baking capabilities. A spelling mistake gets thrown in for good measure, and Amelia summons some kind of entity.

Amelia tries her best to undo the spell, but she discovers that it is not easy. A murderer strikes, can Amelia rise up and catch the killer? Not to mention, find her abilities as a witch?

Fans of the novel enjoy reading about these characters that Morgana Best has created for fans to read about. Some feel that the great part about the series is a group of witches solving the murder of a non-paranormal person. Not to mention, the quirky personalities that each witch has. You will have to stay up late, not get any sleep, and not put the book down for very long to find out how the book ends. Fans enjoy the series for all the fun they have while reading it. It is great to see what great sleuths Amelia and her pals are becoming.
