The debut novel of the Mort Grant series that author Woods wrote is entitled ‘The Fixer’. This novel was released by the Alibi publication in the year 2012. Author Woods has set the story in Seattle and Olympia in Washington, and has introduced the central characters as Lydia Corriger and Mort Grant. Lydia is described as a talented psychologist, while Mort is a detective in the Seattle PD. Together, these two people try to solve the puzzle of an intriguing mystery that they get involved in during the initial stages of the series. At the start of the story of the book, Woods has introduced a determined and deadly woman, who never doubts herself or makes any mistakes. She always strives for justice and never has the feeling of revenge in her heart. The woman is the person everyone looks to hire when they need something in their lives fixed permanently. She has designed several criteria on her own and uses them to evaluate the requests that come her way, finally choosing only a few of those which she feels are very important to have a look into. This deadly lady does not like to take up more than one job every year in a country. She will feel like stepping into the matter only if it becomes clear the there is no other way of serving justice other than her involvement. She tends to complete her jobs with precision and skills. This woman always tries that her jobs do not result in any sort of police investigation and inquiry, and get completed well before anything like that can happen.

For her excellent work and efficient results, she has come to be known as The Fixer and seems quite deadly in her field. In Lydia’s clinical psychology office in Olympia, Washington, a young and beautiful women comes and seems to be in a lot of emotional pain. This woman tells lies about herself and talks to Lydia in riddles. In spite of not coming clean to Lydia about what she is up to, Lydia seems determined to help this woman heal. Lydia doesn’t mind helping her even when she tells her that she has hurt a number of people. Now, when Lydia feels that the session with this unknown woman is escalating too much, she thinks of calling the police. But, it turns out that it is already too late for her to do anything of that sort. After a while, Mort Grant receives a phone call from his own son, who works as a journalist with full dedication. Mort’s son wants his father to investigate about a suspicious death. He joins Mort Grant to chase the leads and track a hired killer. However, none of them realize that they have too close to death than they could have ever imagined.

The next mind blowing book published in the series is called The Red Hot Fix’. This novel was also released by the Alibi in 2014. Author T.E. Woods has mentioned the same characters as in the first book, along with a new addition in the form of a deadly killer named Trixie. At the beginning of the book’s story, it is depicted that it has been over a year after Detective Grant put an end to the killings by The Fixer and caught her. Now, once gain he appears to have his hands full with the criminal investigations in Seattle P.D. He comes to know that as many as 7 men have been killed in the last 4 months. What surprises him the most is that all the murders have taken place near hourly rent-based motels. The men who were killed were found tied with a role and made to lie on crushed mothballs on a bed. The killer seems to have strangled the victims and then planted a kiss with red lipstick on the foreheads. Detective Mort Grant suspects that the killer is a woman and all the 4 murders have been committed by a single, most probably a prostitute. This prostitute looks like having fun while turning the tricks into the dead men. Detective Grant’s problems increase further when the press from the public and press continues to mount on him, and he feels pressured to catch the killer as soon as possible. The press even labels the killer as ‘Trixie’ for the tricks she carries out on her victims. Mort Grant starts following the smallest of the leads so that he could get to the murderer. While investigating, he continually feels guilty about the way he dealt with Fixer. The public hails the Fixer as a hero, who poses as a vigilante to serve justice when the system is unable to deliver. But, Mort cannot put a blind eye to the Fixer’s works because she was committed some serious crimes. Now, as the world knows that the Fixer has vanished, Grant knows exactly where she is. In fact, he has conspired to keep the Fixer hidden from the outside world and use her services when he needs help in delivering justice. Later, Trixie kills another man and eventually Mort Grant and his family come in this killer’s crosshairs. The murders do not look random and the perpetrator seems to be trying to lure Detective Grant into a twisted and sick game. Grant needs to be careful about to or else he might land in a great trouble. At this point, he feels the need of the Fixer for hunting down this crazy murderer.
