Baby for the Mountain Man
Baby for the Mountain Man is the debut in the Mountain Men of Liberty series. Haunted by survivor’s guilt after losing his best friend while on duty, ex-fighter Kellen Mayberry moved to tiny liberty, Utah, to become a loner. He escaped to a small town to escape people and punished himself with guilt over his friend’s death.

Keeping his promise, Kellen runs home to his late friend’s wife as she gives birth to a daughter. Unfortunately, the mother dies a couple of hours later, but the child survives. He had promised to take of his friend’s wife and their unborn baby but never expected to raise the baby. He becomes the child’s guardian and decides to take her back to Utah. Kellen is terrified yet determined to do his best to raise the baby.

When he thought he would be living as a loner, baby Matilda makes him realize that being isolated is no longer what he needs and that change will be inevitable.

Leah Barnes has always wanted to turn her family hotel into a resort destination, but unfortunately, the business is under her brother Grant’s management. She has been watching Kellen with his baby and has decided to ignore the dark rumors of his past spreading throughout the town.

The mountain town spreads its own hairy secrets, and Leah wonders if Kellen will come out and save it from impoverishment. Rumor has it that Kellen is barbaric and rude, but Leah can only see a broken, tortured, compassionate man.

She can see that he is hurting from the inside because she is familiar with this feeling. Leah is sure there is more to Kellen than people see on the outside but can she melt her frozen heart?
Kellen and Leah are both attracted to each other. They can’t stop arguing every time they spend time together, discussing whether the rumors that Kellen is a murderer are true. At first, she wasn’t impressed when she met Kellen because he acted like a jerk, but her view changed after getting to know him better.

Dedicated to his guardian duties, Kellen gets out of his comfort zone to squish the rumors and participate in community activities by attending a masked charity event. He feels guilty that the woman he sees in his dreams is the sister of his friend and co-worker, but he can’t help kissing Leah.

In addition to Kellen’s increasing list of worries about parenting and Leah, there is someone causing trouble in town that appears directly aimed at him. In the meantime, a developer comes to town to buy Leah’s business, which complicates her dreams of making her hotel a resort.

In addition, the town is experiencing an arson outbreak which puts everyone in danger. Can Leah and Kellen get a chance to know each other better, considering the distractions around them?
