About N.D. Jones

The American author N.D. Jones is well known for her imaginative and intelligent fantasy and paranormal novels. Hugely popular around the world, she’s also well regarded for infusing elements of romance into her work as well, really setting her apart. An extremely gifted writer, she’s hugely creative, becoming a massively sought after name within and throughout the literary industry as a whole. Creating enormously rich and immersive worlds for her readers to explore, she has produced a number of books and series that ensure her readers come back for more.

Known for creating characters that are richly drawn as they are diverse, she’s created numerous three-dimensional African-American protagonists. This positive representation has seen her become hugely popular around the world, reaching readers from all over, as her characters resonate on a universal level. Often drawing from her own experiences, Jones ensures that her work rings true on a fundamental level, lending it a real genuine quality. Regardless of whether she’s writing fantasy novels set in worlds with fantasy and magic, she grounds them with an authentic quality that really resonates.

Early and Personal Life

Born in America on the 11th of February, N.D. Jones would grow up with a keen passion for the written word. Interested in all things literature, she would immerse herself heavily in both reading and writing from a young age. This interest of hers would develop throughout the years, allowing her to become the writer that she currently is today.

Working as an educator for over twenty years, Jones has accumulated a wealth of knowledge, all of which would go back into her work. Founding Kuumba Publishing as well, she would set up a publishing company that incorporated paper, eBooks, audiobooks, and art. With her husband running the company it’s a family business, as she continues to work and write to this very day.

Writing Career

It was in 2014 that N.D. Jones would write and publish her first novel, which was a fantasy book titled ‘Of Fear and Faith.’ This novel would also set up her ‘Death and Destiny’ trilogy of books, showing what Jones had to offer as a writer for the first time. Introducing her to the reading public at large, it would go about showing who she was, whilst also establishing the tone for the forthcoming series.

She would also go on to write a number of romance novels alongside a number of other writers, contributing to the long-running ‘Code Redhead’ series. Creating a number of other series too, she would also write stand-alone fantasy novels, as well as non-fiction titles in 2021. This would clearly display her versatility as a writer, as she would go on to find her audience, drawing in readers from around the world.

Of Deception and Divinity

First released through the Kuumba publishing label, this book originally published in 2017 on the 25th of August to much acclaim. Telling the third part of the story in the ‘Death and Destiny’ series of novels, this carried on in much the same vein as before. It would also have lots of twists and turns all of its own, really creating an interesting entry into the series, making a great finale to the franchise.

Being waged every five hundred years, there’s a war set to take place within the realm of the mortals, as the Day of the Serpents will wreak chaos upon the world. Attempting to manage their mate bond together, Sanura and Assefa are simultaneously continuing the war of water and fire. With betrayal and magic lying in wait around every corner, revelations from the past threaten to come to light. Who will emerge victorious from it all, can they overcome the obstacles in their way, and what will become of deception and divinity?

There’s a lot to really get immersed in here, as the story is rich and imaginative, with a vivid style of writing throughout. The story itself is highly entertaining, along with featuring strong characters driving the story forwards too, as it really manages to create a strong air of ambiance. It’s atmosphere is extremely evocative, and one that both fans of the genre and of the author will want to lose themselves in.

The Gift of Second Chances

Initially brought out through the Kuumba publishing imprint, this would first come out on the 9th of February in 2019. Setting up the third title in ‘The Styles of Love’ series of novels, this would continue on from the previous two books with another self-contained romance set in the same world. It’s best that these books are read in order, as there are spoilers to the previous two titles featured within this story.

A couple is on the brink, with their marriage together facing choppy waters, as Dr. Angela Styles-Franklin and husband Sean dealing with the truth of an affair. With twenty years of marriage behind them both, Angie must now deal with what lies ahead, as they must both come to terms with what’s happened. They must now look at whether a second chance can be given, and whether or not the bonds of love can really bind them both. Will they overcome this obstacle together, can the face the future, and what really comes from the gift of second chances?

Breaking expectations in every sense, there’s so much to enjoy here, as there’s a twist and turn waiting just around every corner. The book really delivers on every level, as it makes the most of its compelling and engaging concept, delivering an immersive and interesting story. Keeping the reader guessing every step of the way, the book really stands out as a must for any fans of the genre and author.
