N.D. Wilson is a popular author hailing from America, who likes to write young adult, children’s literature, fiction, and apologetic novels. He is particularly famous for writing the 100 Cupboards trilogy and the Ashtown Burials book series. Author Wilson was born as Nathan David Wilson in the year 1978. He is the son of a Calvinist minister named Douglas Wilson. Author Wilson’s mother is a famous author named Nancy Wilson. When he was in the 6th grade, he got the feeling of becoming a writer. However, he did not take up any lengthy form of fiction writing until a few years later. Author Wilson completed his graduation from the New St. Andrews College in the year 1999. Then he went on to study theology at the Liberty University between the years 1999 and 2000. Finally, Wilson obtained his master’s degree from the St John’s College on the subject of liberal arts in 2001. During the years of the graduate studies, author Wilson had started working seriously towards creating children’s fantasy books. He wrote his first novel as The Seventh Sneeze, which did not get published. Wilson sometimes jokes about the book by saying that the best thing about this book is its title. Author Wilson had to abandon his debut project midway due to some problem and then decided to make a second attempt at writing a novel. In this attempt, he was ultimately able to come up with the 100 cupboard book series. After the completion of his studies, author Wilson started teaching at the New St Andrew’s College. He was appointed as the adjunct professor in the year 2001. The college named him as a Literature Fellow in 2005. During the same year author Wilson made the announcement that in the Books and Culture magazine that he successfully made an almost-duplicate of the Turin Shroud image by keeping dark linen in the open sun for a period of 10 days. Wilson had kept the linen under a glass sheet on top of which there was a positive mask painted. When the news of this act of author Wilson came out in the public, there was a huge uproar in the world of the Turin Shroud.

In addition to teaching and writing, author Wilson also serves as Agenda/Credenda magazine’s managing director. The author is happily married and is blessed with five children in total. Currently, he stays along with his beloved wife named Heather and his kids. In 2017, Wilson had to undergo a surgery for removing a tumor from his brain. Almost all the fictional writings of author Wilson are characterized by creative allusions to the classic literature. One of his books called Leepike Ridge is based on the themes of King Solomon’s Mines, The Odyssey, and The Tom Sawyer Adventures. Wilson’s 100 cupboards novel series is influenced by the stories of King Arthur. In the Ashtown Burials series, author Wilson has described mythological and historical characters. The first novel of this series has refigured the elements from Treasure Island’s opening chapters. Other than writing novels, author Wilson has also penned a few proses and short fictions, which have been released in the Credenda/Agenda magazine, the Esquire project, the Christianity Today, the Books & Culture, and the Chattahoochee Review. The writings of author Wilson have received numerous positive reviews from a number of critics. The Kirkus Reviews has mentioned author Wilson’s writings as fantastical. It has also said that Wilson works with phrase turns and clever sentences that render his stories as more than just a fantasy.

A successful book series written by N.D. Wilson is known as the Ashtown Burials series. This book series consists of 3 books in total, which were released between the years 2011 and 2013. Author Wilson has depicted the central characters in this series as Cyrus Smith, Daniel Smith, and Antigone Smith. The series’ first book is entitled ‘The Dragon’s Tooth’. It was released by Random House in 2011. At the start of this book’s story, it is shown that Antigone and Cyrus Smith have been running a roadside motel along with their elder brother named Daniel for the past two years. Nothing surprising or shocking happens in the motel and business goes on smoothly. Later, an old and strange man arrives at the motel and demands a specific room. The Smiths notice that the old man is having a lot of bone tattoos all over his body. Within 24 hours of checking in, the old man is found dead. Also, Daniel Smith goes missing and the motel gets burned down. In the next scene, Antigone & Cyrus Smith are seen kneeling inside a packed hall and indulging in the oath swearing ceremony towards an explorers’ order. These explorers are known to have served as the caretakers of this world for a long time, and as the keepers of the powerful relics from the lost civilizations as well as the jailers to the unkillable criminals that have brought terror in the world for many years. On the whole, this book depicts an adventure that captures the imagination of the readers and inventively combines the legendary and the contemporary.

The next book written by Wilson in the series is called ‘The Drowned Vault’. Once again, the Random House published the book in 2012. It is said about this novel that the fans of Indiana Jones and Percy Jackson will become captivated by the ancient secrets, buried treasure, and lost civilizations mentioned in it. Author Wilson once again described an action packed adventure. At the beginning of the story of the book, it is depicted that a period of one year has passed since Cyrus Smith and Antigone earned the places of Journeymen in Ashtown, which is the home of all those explorers, who have guarded the treasures and secrets of the world for long. As the studies of these two go on, they realize that they are not liked very much because they lost Dragon’s Tooth to Dr. Phoenix. They learn that the Tooth is just the only thing in the whole world, which is capable of finishing the long lived transmortals. The notorious Dr. Phoenix has been making use of the Tooth for tracking down the transmortals and killing them one after the other. The remaining transmortals are led by the legendary Uruk warrior named Gilgamesh and arrive in Ashtown in full force. They demand justice and ask for a fair trial as well as putting Dr. Phoenix behind bars. Tig and Cy move as fast as they could in the desperate search and locating of Dr. Phoenix and recovering the Tooth from him. While doing so, the two come across a more dangerous evil than Dr. Phoenix. It appears that this evil has been waiting patiently for centuries to come out and cause havoc. Now, the Smiths have to deal with two evils instead of one.
