Nancy E. Mercado is an American author of fiction. She is a writer, a poet, an educator, an editor, and an activist. She has been hailed by Latino Leaders Magazine for being such a big part of the Puerto Rican literary movement in New York City and one of its ‘most celebrated members’.

She attended Rutgers University, where she graduated with her Bachelor’s Associate degree. She then went on to receive an M.A. from the prestigious New York University. Nancy Mercado then went on to go to SUNY-Binghamton, where she received her PhD in English.

She is the author of her poetry collection, published in 2000. It is titled It Concerns the Madness. She is also the editor of If the World Were Mine, a children’s anthology. It was published in 2003. Her next anthology edited was a collection of stories regarding the lunch lady and other school tales.

Every Man For Himself: Ten Short Stories About Being a Guy was published in 2005. It is the first anthology like this with ten stories on a subject edited by Nancy E. Mercado. There were many people that contributed to this anthology– in fact, a total of ten!
