Nancy Werlin is an American published author.

Born October 29, 1961, Werlin grew up in Peabody, Massachusetts. Still a resident of Massachusetts to this day, she resides close to the city of Boston. Werlin would attend Yale where she studied English. She would graduate with her Bachelor’s degree and has put the degree to good use!

Before she was putting out novels, Werlin was writing in a slightly different field. She has been an editor as well as a technical writer for companies that specialize in the Internet and computer software. While she was doing all of this and paying the bills, she was also able to find the time to write some fiction as well.

Today Werlin has written several novels. Some of her fiction is for young adults and some could be put into the category of fantasy, mystery fiction or realistic fiction. This started off with the release of her first fictional novel in 1994, called Are You Alone On Purpose?, a romantic story for young adults.

Werlin would keep going with her writing, putting out The Killer’s Cousin in 1998. The novel was nominated for an Edgar Award and won. She would write several more stand alone fictional novels, including the 2000 thriller novel Locked Inside, also a finalist for the Edgar Award. She has since had other novels come out, such as Black Mirror in 2001, Double Helix in 2004, The Rules of Survival two years later, Extraordinary in 2010, and her 2017 novel, And Then There Were Four. She has also written several short novellas.

Werlin is also the creator and the writer of the Impossible series of fiction. This series of novels kicked off in 2008 with the publication of the debut novel in this series. It also carries the name of Impossible for which the series is titled. The book did very well right off the bat and climbed up the ranks to reach best selling status on the New York Times. Werlin would follow the success of this story up with the sequel, titled Unthinkable.

Impossible is the first novel in the series by the same name. From the award winning writer Nancy Werlin comes a fairy tale type story set in the modern age. If you are a big fan of fantasy or love novels that are written for young adults, this is a great and totally unique story that you can enjoy at any age.

This story was actually inspired by “Scarborough Fair”, a song by Simon and Garfunkel that readers have no doubt heard. Just as interesting as this folk song is this novel that combines romance, fantasy, and suspense all into one, making it impossible to put down until you find out what happens next!

In Impossible, readers get to meet the main character of Lucy for the first time. She is a young woman that has not totally matured yet. Considered a young adult, this seventeen year old may not be ready for what she finds out, but she’s going to have to roll with the punches once the cat is out of the bag.

Lucy is shocked when she is informed of incredible news. It’s almost too hard to believe it. She finds out that she somehow has become the latest person to inherit a curse that has apparently affected her family for generations. It’s almost like Hercules, but she is flabbergasted when she finds out that she must complete three different tasks that apparently are next to impossible to accomplish.

As if that is not enough, the consequences for not completing these tasks seems dire. If Lucy cannot get them done, the risk is that she could go mad. Or, alternatively, the curse will be passed on, destined to afflict the next of kin and upcoming generation in her family. Neither outcome seems desirable.

The good news is that Lucy is not alone in her fight. She has family members on her side as well as friends and other resources that she can employ. This is the modern age, after all, and the world wide web and computers together with support may just be enough to get her through it. However, there’s no telling whether she’ll actually be able to accomplish these tasks or find that she is stuck with a one way ticket to losing her mind.

With all of these things on her side, Lucy is well equipped to take on this curse. But can she really defeat it, or is she just being set up to fail? If she wants to keep her life the way it is and cancel the curse out, she is going to have to confront this thing head on.

Lucy will give it her best shot, but will that be enough to save her in the end? Or will she find out that an ancient evil will continue to prevail? Pick up the popular first book in the Impossible series and read to the end to find out!

Unthinkable is the acclaimed sequel and follow up to the suspenseful novel Impossible! If you love fantasy books, young adult genre stories, or just enjoyed the first novel, be sure to check out this story from Nancy Werlin.

Main character Fenella has a lot going on. She was cursed centuries ago, the first girl in Scarborough to have that dubious honor. Since then, she has been confined to the realm of the fairies, having to watch generation after generation of girls attempt to break the curse’s power and set them all free.

Now Lucy is in the same attempt and has actually done it. That begs the question why Fenella seems to still be trapped in this place. She’s had enough and is ready to get out. To do so, she agrees to a deal with the queen of the fairies.

She has no idea that the destructive acts she is tasked with carrying out will target her own family. The road ahead is unclear, and it’s up to Fenella to try and get herself out of this one without hurting herself or her family. Can she do it, or did she make the wrong deal too soon? Find out by getting a copy of Unthinkable today!
