About Nathalie M.L. Römer

Coming from the Netherlands, the author Nathalie M.L. Römer is a well known writer of science-fiction and fantasy novels, with a bit of romance along the way. A multi-genre author, she has shown a huge amount of versatility over the course of her writing career, creating novels that have stood the test of time for readers worldwide. With a strong imaginative streak running throughout her work, she really knows how to make her material work for her reader, regardless of where they’re from. Setting up believable characters in otherwise fantastical situations, she ensures that her stories resonate with her readers on an almost personal and intimate level. This has paved the way towards her creating an extensive backlog of work, one which has attracted the attention of both critics and the general public alike.

Looking to build upon the genres that she currently finds herself working within, she is always on the lookout for new and inventive ideas with which to expand upon her material. Writing over eight novels and novellas so far and counting, she has definitely managed to create a profile that is well respected within the literary community. Knowing exactly what it is that her readers are looking for, she manages to set herself apart, something which she’ll continue to do for quite some time to come.

Early and Personal Life

Born and raised in the Netherlands, Nathalie M.L. Römer would grow up reading and writing voraciously. This would develop over time, as she would constantly immerse herself in literature, something which would allow her to find her own voice in the following years to come. Later living in Curacao, she would soon go on to live in Britain as well, all of which would give her a wealth of experiences to draw from. Currently living her husband Anders in Gusselby, Sweden, she continues to write regularly to this very day, with a lot more to come still.

Writing Career

Mainly creating fantasy novels combined with mystery, Römer would create a style that was almost ethereal in both style and tone. Getting to the heart of her subject matter with a sense of directness, she would come to create a number of novels and novellas over the course of her writing career. One particular series that she’d become well known for would be her ‘The Wolf Riders of Keldarra’ books, which many would follow over the years. Growing from strength-to-strength as an author, there’s a lot more planned on the horizon yet, as she’s not stopping any time soon.

The Mystery of Priory Mansion

Originally published in 2016 on the 31st of October, this would first come out through ‘Emerentsia Publications’ label, although this has ceased and is set for a new publisher. Working entirely as a stand-alone title, it would not be a part of any series, but it would feature many of the elements that fans had come to expect from Römer. Allowing the story to speak for itself, she stands back as it sweeps the reader up, taking them on an almost magical and mysterious journey.

Working essentially as a mystery novel with some somewhat fantastical underpinnings, this builds upon its intriguing premise with a real sense of purpose. Inviting the reader in, it evokes an air of intrigue throughout, building upon it gradually allowing the suspense to shroud its audience. The characters are also well drawn too, creating real personalities that feel wholly believable and grounded in how they are portrayed. This makes for an even more immersive experience, and shows that Römer clearly is a master of her craft as a writer.

Walking his dog one day, Lucas Cayton is walking past the empty house at the end of the street, when suddenly he hears something coming from inside. Deciding to investigate, he heads into the mansion to see what it is, only to be surprised by what he discovers when entering there. Seemingly occupied, the mansion apparently isn’t empty at all, but the mysterious occupant is apparently nowhere to be seen inside. Looking into the mystery further, Lucas finds that the house itself apparently has many untold secrets, all of which he sets out to solve. Who is living there? Why don’t they want to be seen? Will he discover the truth behind the mystery of Priory Mansion?

South Spires of Achellon

First released through the ‘Emerentsia Publications’ outlet once more, this has also been slated for a new publisher as well. Initially published on the 28th of May in 2017, it would be released not long after the last title in the series, this being the third. Known as ‘The Wolf Riders of Keldarra’ series of novels, this would continue the series in much the same vein as before, whilst also developing the world and the characters.

Combing fantasy and mysticism, this is a magical novel that once again evokes an air of mystery about it. What Römer does here is to use her gifts as a writer to create a fully believable world that the reader can really lose themselves within. The characters are also ones that readers can once again care about too, with them resonating on an intimate level too. Following on from the previous novels too, it does well to keep it in tone with the original two, whilst also delivering new and exciting ideas.

Protecting the city in a shield of magic, Achellon is one of the last of its kind, operating as a stronghold to Keldarra. With a powerful group of Magi protecting and ruling over the city itself, they’ve placed a barrier around its perimeter keeping it safe. Initially met with suspicion by the inhabitants, this soon dissipates as they come to realise that newcomer Alagur is actually a Keeper of the Truth. Accompanied by Marrida, everyone soon comes to befriend them both, but it is within the Spires of Achellon that the Magi secretly sacrifice a young female of their choosing to an ancient god, and they’ve chosen Marrida as their next victim. Will Alagur be able to rescue her in time? Why is there the skeleton of an extremely ancient wolf there? What lies deep within the south Spires of Achellon?
