Neil Patrick Harris: Choose Your Own Autobiography(2014)Description / Buy at Amazon

Actor Neil Patrick Harris was born June 15 1973 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and was raised in Ruidoso, New Mexico. His parents (who are named Sheila Gail and Ronald Gene Harris, and were both born in the year 1946) are both former lawyers and at one point, ran a restaurant. He graduated with high honors in the year 1991 from La Cueva High School.

He was married in the year 2014 to David Burtka, after the couple was engaged for many years and dating since the year 2004. The couple got engaged privately and planned on getting married after gay marriage was legalized. They wound up doing so about three years after it actually was legalized. Pamela Fryman (she directed a lot of episodes of “How I Met Your Mother”, as well as other television shows) officiated over the wedding, and Elton John played the reception.

He is also a magician, director, husband, dad of magical twins, host, and an author. He was also President of the Academy of Magical Arts starting in the year 2011 until the year 2014.

His memoir, which is titled “Choose Your Own Autobiography” made the New York Times Bestseller list after being released in the year 2014. It marks Harris’ debut in writing. The book “The Magic Misfits”, released in the year 2017, his meant for middle school students and his fiction debut.

Mark Medoff, who is a playwright, discovered Harris at an acting camp that was held in Las Cruces, New Mexico. After this, he cast him in a dramatic film that starred Whoopi Goldberg, that was called “Clara’s Heart” and was released in the year 1988. This role earned him a nomination for a Golden Globe.

As an actor, he played Barney Stinson for almost a decade on the television series “How I Met Your Mother”. He was also on “Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog” and “Doogie Howser, M. D.”, the latter of which he stars as the titular character. Big movie roles of his were in the “Harold and Kumar” films, “Starship Troopers”, and “Gone Girl”.

In the year 2010, he was named one of the 100 most influential people by Time magazine. The year after, he was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He is also a Tony award winner for best actor in a musical. He has also hosted multiple major award shows.

“The Magic Misfits” is the first novel in the “Magic Misfits” series and was released in the year 2017. A street magician named Carter runs away and is surprised to find some friends and magic in a sleepy town in New England that is called Mineral Wells. Like all good tricks, things can change instantly as a greedy man named B. B. Bosso, along with his crooked carny crew come to steal. Anything and everything they can get their hands they aim to steal.

Carter meets up with Dante Vernon (who is someone that buys illusion in the town), and joins up with five kids that think like he does. They use magic and teamwork, with the goal of saving Mineral Wells from the evil clutches of Bosso.

Here is a book that was written by an actor, but feels like an author wrote it. Fans of the novel were surprised at how well written this was, especially because Neil Patrick Harris is not actually an author. This is a book that is whimsical and packed with funny parts. It has some great character development and stellar plot to it. Any magician in training should pick up and read this excellent book, not to mention any reader looking for a good read.

“The Second Story” is the second novel in the “Magic Misfits” series and was released in the year 2018. Leila grew up in an orphanage and got bullied because she was different. She turned her trouble into skill when she became an escape artist. This proves pretty valuable when she is part of a group of magical friends.

A world famous psychic hits town, and Leila and friends will be unable to get away from the huge mystery coming with the psychic. Chasing mad monkeys around or banishing ghosts from hotels that are haunted. The six will do what they can to keep the town of Mineral Wells safe, it is not certain if they can keep themselves safe, though.

The six friends have their own magical thing they can do. Theo is able to levitate with help from his violin bow. Ridley is able to transform and invent mundane objects. Olly and Izzy are twins and are able to make people laugh. Carter can make coins and cards disappear. Leila has the ability to escape from straitjackets and trunks. These six friends are going to find friendship, adventure, and the long hidden secrets of the town.

The group is led by the puzzling and friendly Dante Vernon, who runs a magic shop in a sleepy town in New England. He wears a cape and top hat.

“Choose Your Own Autobiography” is a memoir that was released in the year 2014. Neil Patrick Harris, through writing this book, allows the reader to live his very own life. It is a memoir framed as a Choose Your Own Adventure book. After being born in the state of New Mexico, you will be discovered while at acting camp. You and another actor, named Scott Caan will have an odd confrontation outside of a nightclub.

At each critical point of this life, you are going to pick how to proceed. You will make the choice to audition for Doogie Howser, and spend many years fighting with your own sexuality. It is even your choice which kind of caviar you will eat while on Elton John’s personal yacht.

This book was both fun and clever, which people thought it would be, but were blown away by how touching, sweet, sad, and honest the book was, though. This is because they never really expected a memoir that was framed like a choose your own adventure to have a lot of emotion and heartfelt moments to it. This was a great book for some, as it helped them break out of a reading funk they were in at the time.
