Nic Saint
Nic has a background in political science. Before getting struck by the writing bug he worked odd jobs all around the world, which include: gardener in Italy, massage therapist in Mexico, Berlitz teacher in Belgium, and restaurant manager in India.
When Nic’s not writing he enjoys curling up with a good comic book, sampling pastry (like apple cake), twisting himself into a pretzel doing his morning yoga, eating pasta and chocolate (preferably the dark kind), and spoiling Tommy (his big red tomcat). He also likes watching French comedies, Nancy Meyers movies, and British crime dramas.
“One Spoonful of Trouble” is the first novel in the “Mysteries of Bell and Whitehouse” series and was released in the year 2015. Felicity Bell expresses her wish that there was more to life than just working in her family’s bakery, she had no idea that her wish would come true so quickly. All of a sudden the tiny town of Happy Bays is confronted with a crime wave the likes of which she has never seen before. The main culprit appears to be Rick Dawson, some big shot reporter, and pretty quick the two are at daggers drawn.
Rick came to Happy Bays to work on this tell-all article to expose Chazz Falcone, a villainous billionaire. Rick actually lost his job due to the expose, and he is determined to nail this real estate tycoon right to the wall. He quickly finds that trouble’s followed him all the way from New York City. Even though she pretends she is really a baker, he’s got a sneaking suspicion that Felicity is actually working for Falcone, attempting to get her hands on Rick’s article.
Before too long, Rick and Felicity find themselves in quite a reluctant partnership fighting off the crime wave which has hit Happy Bays, and this sketchy billionaire who appears to be behind all this trouble.
This is an enjoyable and fun read with some excellent characters that are the type you would want to become friends with. Nic delivers a hugely romantic, lively, and quirky book that is sure to keep you laughing throughout. There’s even a funny twist at the end of this cute little mystery.
“Two Scoops of Murder” is the second novel in the “Mysteries of Bell and Whitehouse” series and was released in the year 2015. Happy Bays, which is that peaceful small town nestled on the south shore of Long Island, is quickly the scene of a brutal killing. Felicity Bell, sometime crime reporter and baker, figures she’ll get involved when the cops seem stumped. Pretty quick, though, more killings stun this small community, and Felicity enlists the help of the ‘holy trinity’, three gossipy and nosy members of the Happy Bays Neighborhood Watch Committee (HBNWC).
At the same time, Alice Whitehouse (who is Felicity’s best friend and the chairwoman of the (HBNWC), has got other fish to fry in the form of a Hollywood hunk named Reece Hudson. Alice has been Reece’s number one fan ever since he first rose up to fame, and the fact that this handsome star is in town to introduce his fiancee to his dad doesn’t keep her from just accidentally falling into the guy’s arms, and promptly signing him right up for the HBNWC.
Now Felicity, with help from the Holy Trinity, Alice, and action hero Reece Hudson, must find a way to stop this murderer before he can strike again. And while the body count continues to rise, Felicity finds she’s running out of time, options, and customers.
Fee and Alice are a lot of fun, and they do some more serious detective work this time around. There’s more character development and twists, with less of the zany interactions that the first novel in the series had.
“Three Shots of Disaster” is the third novel in the “Mysteries of Bell and Whitehouse” series and was released in the year 2015. Right as Felicity, a sometime crime reporter and acclaimed baker, believed the streets of Happy Bays were safe again, a tragedy strikes. First there is the nuclear power plant, where a terrorist plans revenge on this tiny Long Island town.
There is also Mayor MacDonald’s parrot Moe that is suddenly kidnapped, and at last Felicity’s best friend Alice’s love suffers a crushing blow after Reece Hudson chooses to go back to his ex, the socialite Dorothy Valour.
Felicity, Alice, and their group of family and friends get faced with three shots of disaster. This might be the end, as even Felicity’s baking ability appears to have deserted her as her muffins come out inedible, because of a mistake in Granny Bell’s recipe.
Is Alice going to be reunited with Reece? Is Moe the Parrot going to escape from his captors? Is Happy Bays going to survive nuclear disaster? And are Felicity’s baking abilities going to return?
“A Twist of Wraith” is the fourth novel in the “Mysteries of Bell and Whitehouse” series and was released in the year 2015. The ghost of a murdered girl appears before Felicity all of a sudden, she is surprised to say the very least, most of all because Jennifer Dozen was just reported missing, not actually murdered. However Jennie is quite dead indeed, and before too long Felicity finds herself getting tangled up in this confounding murder case.
At the same time, back at the funeral home, Alice Whitehouse has got ghosts of her own to contend with. Three, actually: Dora, Donna, and Rock enlist Alice to help them figure out what happened exactly to make them all this way. As if that were not enough there is her boyfriend Reece, the Hollywood superstar, that doesn’t believe in ghosts, and sends a psychiatrist on her.
Quickly, the whole Happy Bays Neighborhood Watch Committee comes on the case, chasing down leads, comforting ghosts, and even dealing with ghost dogs in the shape of Chazz Falcone’s deceased Pomeranian. However when Alice and Fee find that all of the clues lead to Town Hall, they realize that this time around they have bitten off a whole lot more than they can chew.
