Publication Order of Short Stories/Novellas

Nicole Trope
Author Nicole Trope originally went to university in order to study Law however realized the error of her ways once she did incredibly poorly on her very first law essay. Part of this is due to her professor saying the assignment wasn’t meant to be a story. So instead she studied teaching and used her vacation time to work on her writing career and complete a Masters’ degree in Children’s Literature.

After the birth of her first child she stayed home full time to raise kids and write, renovate houses, and build a business with her husband.

The idea for her very first published book, “The Boy Under the Table”, was so incredibly scary that it took her an entire year for her to find the necessary courage to write this emotional story.

Domestic tasks like doing the cleaning or the washing free her mind. As her hands are busied she often finds solutions to the problems in her novel, helping rid her of writer’s block.

Nicole is a USA Today and an Amazon bestseller in Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Australia.

“The Boy Under the Table” is the first stand alone novel and was released in 2012. Tina’s a young woman that hides from her grief on the streets of the Cross. On some cold night during the middle of winter she breaks all of her own rules when she agrees to head home with a customer. What she discovers in his house is going to change her life forever.

Sarah and Doug, across the country, are stuck in limbo. They struggle accepting the loss which now governs their lives. Pete is the local police officer that feels as though he is watching the slow death of his own family, as each new day brings a fresh hell for each one of them.

Told from Pete, Tina, Doug, and Sarah’s alternating perspectives, this book is moving, gritty, shocking, and filled with hope, ultimately. It is a harrowing glimpse into the real world behind the headlines, and is a novel of immense power and compassion-one which will not fail to move all those that read it.

“Three Hours Late” is the second stand alone novel and was released in 2013. A captivating read about the horrible secrets of a marriage, the love which can turn into desperation, the heartbreak and refuge of being a parent, and the fragile threads which can cradle a family.

Once, a long long time ago, she’d watched him just like this when he would come to pick her up for a date. Her stomach burned and fluttered with both desire and infatuation. She’d watch him walk up the path and think that this must be love. However that was so long ago.

Now Liz is afraid and wary. She’s made a horrible mistake and it can’t be undone. Alex believes that today is going to be the day she returns to him. Today’s going to be the day that his young son and wife come back home finally. Today they’re going to be a family again.

However Liz knows that there are some things that can never be mended. Some marriages are just too broken. Some people just too damaged. Now the most important thing in her life is her son, named Luke, and she’ll do whatever she has to in order to protect him. When Alex is just a few minutes late bringing him back Liz starts worrying, and when he’s one hour late her concern increases, and when he’s even later still she can feel her entire life changing, because what happens if Alex is not just late?

“Hush, Little Bird” is the third stand alone novel and was released in 2015. Birdy believed that she’d have to wait until she was free to ever see Rose, however Rose has been convicted of a shocking crime which brings her and Birdy together. Birdy’s been saving all of her anger for Rose. It’s Rose that should’ve kept her safe and protected her. Birdy was little, however Rose was big and she knows that Rose could have saved her.

This is a story about monsters that hide in plain sight and about all of the secrets we keep from ourselves. It is about kids that are betrayed and the adults that fail them. This is the tale about Birdy, who was hurt, and Rose that must be forced to pay.

“The Secrets in Silence” is the fourth stand alone novel and was released in 2016. Tara lost her voice. She knows that there was fear and pain however cannot remember anything else. Now she can just answer all of the questions with silence.

Minnie’s kept her voice buried for years, losing herself in isolation and silence, keeping her secrets safe and her broken heart concealed. Liam finds refuge in the silence, as it is a place to go when he is unable to even get words out. Kate cannot speak for herself quite yet.

People are just separated from one another by moments, by coincidence. One teenage mistake, a horrible night and a shocking choice that will lead to found courage, voices raised and the truth being spoken at last.

“Blame” is the fifth stand alone novel and was released in 2016. Anna and Caro are best friends, or at least they were. For more than a decade, Anna and Caro have bonded as they raised their daughters, two little girls that are the same age yet live two vastly different lives. The women have supported one another while sharing the trials and joys of motherhood, however everything’s changed. There has been a horrible car wreck, an unimaginable tragedy which leaves both families devastated.

Over two days while Anna and Caro both detail their own account of the events, and are forced to reveal closely guarded secrets and hidden truths.

The complex lives of moms and wives are exposed while they both realize that even the best of friends do not tell each other everything. And when hearts get broken, even the best of friends need somebody to blame. A provocative, hard-hitting, and gripping read from a queen of white-knuckle suspense and searing family drama.

I discovered your books a few months ago and have, so far, read 5 of them: The Family Across the Street, The Girl Who Never Came Home, His Other Wife and The Stepchild. Just finished My Daughter’s Secret and I have to tell you that I was disappointed that I was left hanging at the end. All and all, though, I enjoy your books and will probably purchase more. (When I’m through, I donated them to the library here at the senior citizen complex in which I live.)

Wondering where you buy these books. I was told that her books can only be ordered and paid for prior to the publishing company mailing the book. I’ve checked many stores and can’t find the books on store shelves.
      Thank you
