Oklahoma All-Girl Brand by Maggie Shayne
Author Maggie Shayne pens the “Oklahoma All-Girl Brand” series of contemporary novels. The series began publication in the year 2000, when “The Brands Who Came For Christmas” was released.

The books are set in a small town and have elements in common with movies such as “You’ve Got Mail” and “Hope Floats”.

The series is a spin-off of the bestselling “Texas Brand” books, which Maggie also writes. These books still feature the Brand family, this time the series is set in Oklahoma and star female members of the Brand family.

“The Brands Who Came For Christmas” is the first novel in the “Oklahoma All Girl Brands” series of novels and was released in the year 2000. This novel stars Caleb and Maya Brand. Caleb did not realize that a single night of bliss the previous spring with Maya Brand, a small town beauty, resulted in her getting pregnant. That ended when the attempt at blackmail showed up on his desk in an unmarked envelope, which were complete with pictures of Maya with her belly way out to there.

He finds out the truth, and he rushes to Big Falls, wanting to just make it right, despite what a scandal would do to his own high profile career, and the family legacy he never really wanted. The only thing he wants is Maya, as well as their child.

Will a girl whose dad betrayed and abandoned her, ever really believe in the goodness of a guy that left town the next morning after their one night stand? How will he ever convince her that he has never stopped thinking about her since that time, much less, be able to do so with the entire world watching him? Caleb has to prove himself to this woman that he is unsure he is even worthy of. He does not even have an idea how to do so.

Readers found this to be a wonderful story that certainly warmed up their hearts by the end. The book is a sweet romance, and Maggie Shayne’s sense of humor is outstanding, with each of the characters having a unique wit. She is able to tell a totally enjoyable read from beginning to end, and does a fantastic job of bringing her characters to life.

“Brand New Heartache” is the second novel in the “Oklahoma All Girl Brands” series of novels and was released in the year 2001. This novel stars Wade Armstrong and Edie Brand. Wade Armstrong was the guy from the wrong side of the tracks, but that never stopped him from wanting Edie Brand the entire time they were in high school. Now she is back in town, and Wade felt he was compelled to protect her, even if he had to move in with her to do it.

Edie’s pretty face was always able to get her noticed, but now it earned the ex-model a stalker’s admiration. So she departed from Los Angeles for her hometown in Oklahoma, hoping she could have a place to hide, and found some shelter in the most unexpected of places. While the stalker got closer to home, the independent Edie was required to entrust her entire life to Wade’s protection. She found that she was surrendering her heart, too.

It would seem that all the members of this family are fantastic to read about, and fans of all of these books simply cannot get enough of them. For some, this one was even better than the first one in the series. Maggie does a fantastic job here of hooking readers in at the start and fans love her style of writing.

“Secrets and Lies” is the third novel in the “Oklahoma All Girl Brands” series of novels and was released in the year 2002. The novel stars Alex Stone and Melusine Brand. Alex Stone, an ex-Secret Service agent, was one of the very best, so it seemed easy to impersonate a missing foreign dignitary named Thomas Barde. Convincing the rowdy and rough Melusine Brand was really Katerina, Thomas’ super feminine bride as well as the president of Tantilla’s beloved, was a whole other story. While Alex was no stranger to tough assignments, hiding his personal history with Melusine bordered on being impossible.

Physically, Melusine could very well have been Katerina’s twin, but that is where the resemblance between the two stopped, something that Alex was very grateful for as their simple plan ends up becoming dangerous. While they fight off terrorists in the Texas desert, Alex had to wonder not only if a future without Melusine around was worth living, but if they would even be around to have any future whatsoever?
Maggie Shayne delivers another enjoyable book with a ton of fast paced and exciting action. Once readers pick these books up, they quickly get hooked and cannot stop reading until they have finished the entire thing.
“Feels Like Home” is the fourth novel in the “Oklahoma All Girl Brands” series of novels and was released in the year 2005. The novel stars Jimmy Corona and Kara Brand. Wife wanted, love is not even required or desired.

That is what Jimmy Corona, a cop in Chicago, thought anyway when he went back to his former hometown in Oklahoma and ran right into Kara Brand. All Jimmy wanted to do was just to find a mom for his son, somebody to keep young Tyler safe as he took down his most recent perp.

What he found instead was that the shy and awkward Kara he had known from his days in high school had blossomed right into a genuine beauty with courage to spare and a great big ole heart. These are both qualities that he learned to value after danger followed him right to the town and it was just Kara standing between his kid and certain death. All of a sudden, love did not seem like too much of a scary prospect after all.

Fans found this one to be an interesting novel, with a ton of action from the beginning to the very end.
