Olivia Miles is an American author that writes romance novels. Olivia comes from New England. She eventually moved to Chicago with her husband and daughter where the family settled, which might explain why the author writes so many romance stories based in Chicago.
A student of McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Olivia isn’t the most prolific romance writer out there, but she definitely has her fans. The author enjoys writing about simple romances taking place in simple communities.
Olivia would probably describe herself as a city girl. However, she seems to have a fondness for small towns because she writes a lot of romances set in small towns. The author’s stories have been described as slow burns.
Olivia Miles likes to take her time building up the tension between her characters and explaining their backstories and motivations before she allows them to fall into the throes of passion. Some readers love this approach. They love getting to know the protagonists intimately before the romance gets going.
A couple of readers, however, have been known to complain about the slow pacing of Olivia’s novels. Not that Olivia minds. While the author loves interacting with her fans and reading their feedback, she endeavors to stay true to the stories she wants to tell.
Olivia Miles’ entry into the publishing arena wasn’t easy. The author is always encouraging aspiring writers to keep persevering until they get the publishing deal they desire. However, she also endeavors to educate them about the rigors they must endure once they make contact with a publisher
Olivia was over the moon the day she got the call telling her that her manuscript had finally found an interested publisher. She expected to see her book on the shelves of book stores within a month or two.
She was shocked to realize just how much longer it would be before readers were finally treated to her first novel. First of all, she had to deal with an editor who, despite absolutely loving her manuscript, expected her to make numerous changes.
By the time Olivia submitted her manuscript the first time around, she had poured over it several times over and she was pretty satisfied with the final product. So she was pretty shocked to learn that she was expected to reread and revise the manuscript a few more times before her story was finally ready for publication.
Olivia warns aspiring authors that getting a book deal is only the first step in a long and arduous journey. Olivia had the strength to persevere during those months and she often warns aspiring writers to only take the plunge into publishing if they are actually willing to deal with all the stress involved.
Olivia’s career started out slow. She had a bit of fun writing simple standalone stories. Then her Briar Creek series was sold to Grand Central Publishing, this forcing her to adapt to a different style of writing. She had to learn to write longer books. This meant slowing the pace of her story without allowing things to drag.
Olivia believes that she has adjusted pretty effectively. Though, as a mother, getting her writing done isn’t always easy. The author’s family demands a lot of her attention, so much so that Olivia often seeks out environments that are completely silent so that she can get her writing done.
Once Olivia finally got an office at home, it took her a while to find the right position for her table and chair. Like many authors, Olivia Miles thought that positioning her table so that she was facing the window would allow the greenery beyond to inspire her.
However, she found that she spent more time staring out the window than actually writing. Facing her book shelves didn’t help either because all Olivia could think about was what she was going to read next.
So if you ever come into Olivia Miles’ office while she is writing, you will most likely find her facing the wall. That is where Olivia gets most of her writing done. With nothing but the wall and the silence to contend with, Olivia has found that she can overcome even the most persistent of obstacles. This explains why Olivia rarely complains about writer’s block on social media. When Olivia Miles begins to struggle with a plot, she will happily sit in her chair and stare at the wall until an idea pops into her head.
The strategy has served her well so far.
+A Match Made on Main Street
What will Anna Madison do? She gave her life to the Briar Creek Café, and now it has burned to the ground. Most people would mourn their losses for an eternity. However, Anna Madison is made of stronger stuff than that.
Where others see ruin, Anna sees an opportunity to make lemonade out of life’s lemons by starting afresh. However, starting again is easier said than done, especially when the only kitchen within reach belongs to her ex.
Anna and Mark Hastings are not only exactly operating on the same wavelength. His greasy-spoon kitchen is definitely not up to the standards of Anna whose infatuation with high-end cuisine is well known.
However, Mark won’t be bullied, even if he regrets their breakup more than anything else. Of course, Mark is too much of a man to admit his longings.
The second Briar Creek series is a Second Chances romance. When Anna loses her café, she is forced to work beside her ex. The situation is less than ideal for Mark whose close interactions with Anna force him to rethink their breakup.
Mark and Anna are an odd couple. Throughout this story’s run, neither of them seems particularly certain about the future of their romance with one another.
+Love Blooms on Main Street
Ivy Birch still dreams about her stolen kiss with Brett Hastings during her best friend’s wedding. The florist likes to fantasize about receiving a bouquet of flowers and every one of her fantasies involves the attractive ER doctor.
With Briar Creek being so small, Brett cannot avoid running into Ivy. The situation isn’t ideal because Brett is afraid that Ivy will distract him from his work. His determination to maintain self-control is put to the test when he is thrown into close quarters with Ivy during a fundraiser.

Loving all your books. I’m now rereading the first two books in the Evening Island series, and will then read the latest book. Thanks for all the wonderful books. Series books are my favorite.
