A very well known book series written by author Olivia Newport is called the Hidden Falls, Season 1 series. It consists of a total of 13 books released between 2013 and 2014. Olivia has set the stories of this series in a beautiful small town called Hidden Falls. The series is actually written in the form of 13 episodes depicting the lives of the people in Hidden Falls. The central character of all the stories is played by Ted Quinn, who is described as a former teacher. Ted has spent several decades of his life in the teaching profession, providing compassionate service in helping the children of Hidden Falls learn and grow up into better human beings. The series starts by showing that Ted Quinn’s former students, loved ones, and friends organize a big event for honoring him for his years of selfless service.

Quinn seems reluctant to feature in a gathering where the spotlight will be on him all the time, but he agrees to come at the request of his dear friend & confidante and Hidden Falls’ mayor Sylvia. Liam and Jack, one a former pupil of Quinn and the other a newcomer in town, look forward to the big night for their own gains. They see it as an opportunity for redemption. Nicole and Ethan, former lovers with broken hearts, decide to forget their past for one night for Quinn and become a part of the greatest moment of his life. Lauren and Dani are the old friends of Quinn. Every person in the town has some hidden secret of their own and none of them want to let their secret out. Finally, the night of the event comes and all the guests arrive, get seated and wait for the arrival of Ted Quinn on stage. As the spotlight is directed at the entry point, something unthinkable happens that leaves everyone surprised and desperate to know the truth.

The debut book of the series is entitled ‘Ordinary Secrets’. It was released by Shiloh Run Studios in 2013. This novel introduces the main characters of the whole series and goes on to revolve around the lives of the Hidden Falls town’s people. Ted Quinn is introduced as a teacher, who has spent the last 30 years of his life in trying to make the people’s lives better. His efforts have touched many people’s lives, who now want to honor him by organizing a banquet. Ted Quinn does not think that there is any need for such an event, but he couldn’t say no to Sylvia. She is the mayor of the town and has been in love with him throughout her life. Ted expresses his apology for not giving her the love she wanted and spending his life in the service of others instead.

When Quinn learns that many of his older students are going to come to the banquet, he becomes very exciting to meet them. Among his favorite former students are Ethan, Nicole, Liam, Dani, etc. Ethan used to love Nicole when they were in high school. But, they went different ways in college. Ethan ended up becoming a doctor, while Nicole chose to work as an investigative reporter. The two are not on talking terms now because of their breakup, but they decide to put their differences aside and join Quinn on his big day. Liam seems to be going through some troubles in his life and business. He hopes to get Ted Quinn to invest in his business and get him out of the trouble. This book provides a good read. Every character is shown having a rich personality of their own, which attracted the readers the most and enabled them to read the whole series.

The second installment of the series is called ‘Losing Quinn’. It was published in 2014 by the Barbour Publishing. This book’s plot begins from where the previous one had ended. After realizing that Ted Quinn has gone missing from the celebratory dinner, his close ones become worried about him. As no one has any idea where he went, they start panicking in trying to know what happened to Ted. Sylvia, the mayor of the town, doesn’t want people to panic. So, she attempts to downplay the fact the Ted is missing. One good thing that happens due to Quinn’s disappearance is that Nicole & Ethan start talking to each other again and give another chance to their romantic relationship. Cooper, who is a member of the sheriff’s department, thinks that there is nothing to get worried about as there are no signs of foul play. Upon people’s request, he sends some men to check Ted’s house and the nearby lake, but they don’t any success. According to Cooper, it is best to wait for Quinn’s return. Shortly after, Nicole comes across Ted’s crashed car with Ted nowhere around. This deepens the mystery of Ted’s disappearance even further. The readers loved this book too, and praised every literary element mentioned in it by Olivia.
