Orlando A. Sanchez is a bestselling American author of mystery and urban fantasy fiction. He has been writing or most of his life as he started keeping journals as a teenager. He still has some of the journals that he thought were very good in his younger days, though it is clear even to him now that they are cringeworthy. He used to get together with his friends and play “Dungeons and Dragons” with him almost always playing “Dungeon Master.” The first game he ever played was a text-based adventure game that was named Zork. It was from such games that he gained some of the storytelling skills he has put to use in his later career as an author. Sanchez was also a voracious reader of novels and would read all manner of books during the summers. JRR Tolkien was a particular favorite of his and every summer, he would reread his works alongside others such as Piers Anthony, Ray Bradbury, Terry Brooks, Robert Heinlein, Frank Herbert, and Robert Silverburg among many others. This was in addition to all the books he was required to read for school.

Sanchez started publishing in 2012 when she wrote “The Spiritual Warriors,” the first of the “Warriors of the Way” series of novels. But just like many authors, it was never so easy to get published especially since he started using the traditional route and got a ton of rejection letters. It was only when he found self-publishing that he got the breakthrough he needed. He now has more than forty novels in more than thirteen series. He has also contributed to the “Urban Fantasy Anthology” series. While self-publishing was still not something that was respected during this time, he took the plunge as he did not have a choice. He wanted to write for himself and with the support of his wife, he finally managed to make a life for himself as a professional author. As an established author, he now helps writers who are just starting out. He asserts that while he does not think of himself as having arrived; he believes he has a lot to offer newbie authors. As for his novels, Orlando A Sanchez is best known for writing novel set in urban environments where paranormal twists are just around the corner with just the right dose of mayhem, martial arts, and magic. Nonetheless, his writing is still improving and evolving and the novels of the “Warriors of the Way” series are vastly different from those of his most successful “Montague & Strong Case Files” series.

Orlando Sanchez loves to think of himself as a creative warrior and thinks it an essential component for any creative person. Aside from his writing endeavors, he is also a practitioner of Karate and has two black belts in two distinct styles. He has been studying and practicing the martial arts for more than three decades as it has been a lifelong hobby. Between embracing his training and being the best father and husband he can be, he is also a trained calligrapher and graphic designer and he dabbles in that from time to time. In college and high school, he played the trumpet and as such music is another of the interests he still pursues. Sanchez currently lives with his family in Queens New York and does most of his writing from a local Starbucks.

“Tombyards & Butterflies” by Orlando Sanchez opens to a messenger from the Dark Council arriving at the offices of the Montague & Strong Detective Agency. He has come with an irresistible offer which Simon cannot refuse. Charon the dependable and legendary ferryman that has always been depended upon to transport the souls of the sorcerers across river Styx has been missing for several days. It is becoming a crisis as the souls unable to go across are now walking among the living and this has thrown the world into imbalance with each passing hour. Simon Strong the best private detective in NYC is an immortal who teams up with Tristan Montague, the surly mage whose age no one knows. They need to find the missing man and get him back at his station before the world erupts in a supernatural war that could destroy humanity, ravage the earth, and with-it Simon’s local coffee shop. He is running out of time with his landlord demanding the rent while Karma has paid him a visit at the least unexpected of times.

Orlando A Sanchez’s “Full Moon Howl” has Tristan and Simon struggling once again to save themselves and their world. Bloody messages and broken bodies have been appearing in the filthy backstreets of New York and rabid werewolves are roaming abroad where they are attacking all manner of New Yorkers. The Dark Council wants some answers fast and Tristan and Simon have been charged with investigating. Their investigations indicate that the person responsible may be a powerful mage though there is only one person in the city powerful enough to pull off such a stunt – Tristan Montague. Tristan and Simon need to find the man responsible for the infection before the council decides that Tristan is the dark mage responsible. The council is also considering killing all the werewolves and such actions may destroy the fragile peace between the human and supernatural community in the city. Add in a few explosions and Simons powers of immortality may be stretched to their limit. They have to find the identity of their adversary before it is too late.

“Blood is Thicker” by Orlando A Sanchez asks the question, What could be more terrifying to a vampire than sunlight? Michiko Nakatomi has been the chair of the Dark Council for more than a hundred years and has so far managed to maintain the uneasy peace between the supernatural beings and humanity. But then an ancient enemy comes back into town and maintaining peace will not be easy. It is not long before the vampires are dying and the delicate balance that had existed for hundreds of years is shattered. Michiko now needs to fight not only for the life of the council but also for her own life in an environment and time in which she trusts no one. The Council is teetering on the edge and her inner circle is no more leaving her with no one to trust. Tristan and Simon are the only people she thinks may be able to get her out of her predicament. They are the only one that can fight off the Blood Hunters, which is the only thing that will prevent the Dark Council from destroying everything.

I would like to read a story featuring Jimmy the Butcher and Little Bear. I don’t remember how her name is spelled.

When I read the name cold I think of Coleman Younger. I have no idea what his abilities could he have. I can also picture him dating the head of the Word Weavers (the one with the treasured Dive t-shirts.)
