Phyllis Christine Cast is an American romance and fantasy writer popularly known for the House of Nights series which she writes in collaboration with her daughter Kristin Cast. She is also the one who is behind the Partholon book series and her own Goddess summoning series.
Her Career
P.C Cast on her own is known for her Partholon Book series and Goddess summoning series. Her first book entitled Goddess by Mistake was first published in 2001,won Holt Medallion, prism and Laurel Wreath awards and made it to the final of the national reader’s choice award; her other subsequent books has also won a number of prestigious prizes.
In the year 2005, P.C Cast and her daughter began the journey of co-writing The House of Night series. In the wake of a new generation of vampire book series that were led by Stephanie Meyer’s books called Twilight series, the P. C Cast’s books have equally enjoyed commercial success as well as increased criticism. In March 2009, her fifth book in the series became the bestselling book of USA today and in the Wall Street Journal.
According to Phyllis Christine Cast, the concept of the House of Night Series came from her own agent, who initially suggested a “vampire finishing school” theme. The series takes place in a particular universe she named Tulsa, Oklahoma, which is inhabited by both “vampyres” and humans. P.C Cast explains the choice she made by using the word Vampyres instead of vampire stating that she liked the way her new word looked. She named the 16 year old protagonist in the House of Night series as Zoey Redbird as a marked by as a marked “fledgling” who moved to the “House of Night” where she is being transformed.
In the month of November 2008, the Variety reported that Jeremiah S. Chechik and Michael BIurnbaum; who were producers have obtained the picture rights of the House of Night Series. However, there was no film that resulted from that. In 2011, the producer Samuel Hadida’s company acquired the picture rights to the House of Night series to be produced in Davis Films.
P. C Cast’s Personal Information
P. C Cast was born 1960 at the Midwest, and grew up settling both in Oklahoma and Illinois. It is in Oklahoma where she fell in love with Mythology and Quarter Horses at the same time. Phyllis Christine cast started writing and public speaking immediately after high school at the United States Air Force. After touring USAF, she became an English teacher at Tulsa for 15 years before deputing her full time writing career.
Ms Phyllis Christine Cast is the best-selling author at the New York Times. A good number of her novels have won some of the most prestigious awards that include: romantic times reviewer’s choice award, Oklahoma book awards, the prism, YALSA quick pick for reluctant readers awards, Daphne du Maurer, Holt Medallion, the Laurel wreath award and Book Seller’s best. Phyllis Christine cast is a very talented speaker and an experienced teacher. P.C Cast has a very talented daughter and partner author (Kristine Cast) who she partners with in writing The House of Night series. She is currently a student at the University of Tulsa.
The most interesting part of P. C Cast’s life is her marriage. P. C Cast has been in three marriage relationships and she has had a divorce in all of them. In the month of June 2010, P. C Cast wrote about her current relationship with a Scottish historian who is also a Clan Wallace Chieftain; Seoras Wallace, who she met while she was seriously researching on her novel entitled The Avenger.
P. C Cast’s Divine Series
Phyllis Christine Cast’s divine series also known as The Partholon Series was published for the first time in United Kingdom. The book series is all about Shannon Parker; an English teacher at a high school in Oklahoma, after she was transferred to a completely new environment that is a very different world. The third book of the series (Divine by Blood) goes on to spin a “mirror Image” of Rhiannon’s daughter named Morrigan. The mirror image transports the character Shannon Parker to a parallel world that they termed as Partholon; a place rich in magic, centaurs and passion. The books in this series are: Goddess by Mistake, published in 21 April 2001; Divine by Choice, published on 1 December 2006; Divine by blood, published in 2007 and The Divine Beginning, published in 2009.
The House of Night Series
The house of night is a very thrilling and engaging book series that is centered on a 16 years old Zoey Redbird. Zoey Redbird gets “marked” by vampyre trackers and begins to evolve into a real vampyre. This forced her to move from her home in Tulsa to the House of Night; which is a boarding school where other fledglings like her are.
It is at the House of Night that Zoey Redbird came to redefine her life by finding love, making new friends and discover her extraordinary new powers and awesome being. Even if Zoey Redbird is a vampire now, she is still a normal teenager with angst, humour and confusing feelings that are normal to any teenager.
The series has a special in-build characters that build up the series. One such character is The Dark Daughters and Sons of The House of Night’s fledgling organization. Its members are the brightest and set a pace for other fledglings in that school. The Dark Daughter’s leader is chosen by a Nyx because he has the power to know one with extra ordinary powers and the brightest among them all. The chosen young woman is very talented and has the responsibility of not only performing monthly rituals dedicated to Nyx but also has the task of leading other fledglings in performing those rituals. The leader is closely monitored and mentored by the high priestess of House of Night. Membership in the Dark sons and Daughters is only by invitation. The symbol for this House of Night group is the Triple Goddess which is a two crescent moon that are back to back against a full moon.Get a copy of the her book series and have some awesome fun.
