When a total of four patients wake up after they have been declared dead, it’s an unexpected surprise. The families of the people that were declared dead are overjoyed and cannot believe their good luck.
It is not too long before words gets around the hospital. There employees are whispering to each other about what happened, and the word miracle starts to be brought up repeatedly. The families of those that would have been dead are thrilled. But they find that their ecstasy may not be long when the patients they are speaking to no longer respond to their names.
On top of that, they are telling that their loved ones that they are not the same person but are different people. No one knows what is going on, but it is suggested that they are all in the middle of fugue stats. Then one of the doctors says that he recognizes a name given by one of the patients.
He knew the girl but the twist is that he was there when she died. This was in 1992. It soon starts to appear that the people that were declared dead may have the souls of others who have passed in their body. It sounds too strange to be true, but could this be the case? Could the bodies of these patients that were deemed dead really play host to others that have come back from the veil?

There is a name for the dead that occupy the living bodies now, called Travelers. It’s been four years since the first of them came back, and since then there have been more of them.
No one knows quite how to define their existence, but people know about them now. They’ve been accepted into society by most and there are even laws drafted up to protect them. But for every person that accepts the Travelers, there are some that think that they are imposters and are a threat to their faith and their lives alike.
The Travelers are people that are seen by some as having a right to be here, and others do not accept them in any way. They do not think that these souls should be given protection under the law and adamantly want to end the Travelers from showing up at all. They even have a special process arranged as to how to do this by injecting bodies after they have died with a substance that goes into the brain and makes sure that the dead are really dead and not just waiting for the Travelers or Imposters to come back into it and use it.
They call themselves True Borns, and they believe in one body and one soul. They do not accept the Travelers as part of society and think in fact they will ruin it. Something must be done to stop them, but where will these True Borns draw the line? Who will win in a match of the Travelers and the True Borns?
Only time will tell. If you want to find out what happens, you can! Get a copy of Second Chances by P.D. Cacek and find out for yourself whether the Travelers will win the day or whether the fanatical True Borns will end up getting the upper hand against their foe.
