Living currently in Arizona with her husband, the American author Paige Shelton is well known and equally well regarded for her mystery and suspense novels. With her trademark wit and charm, she is able to conjure up a series of plots and characters that clearly resonate well with her readership. Having had a son, she now continues to write to this present day, gaining more and more readers with each subsequent novel release.
Early and Personal Life
Living in Salt Lake City, Utah, the author Paige Shelton then moved on to Arizona in the February of 2015 with her husband. Having lived in Utah for over twenty-seven years, she hadn’t originally planned to as she’d gone there for a job in advertising straight after having graduated from college. It was there she met her husband Charlie though and they then had their son, so she ended up staying leading up to her becoming the successful writer that she is today.
This has all managed to mold her current writing career, inspiring much of what she does, whilst providing the material for the novels to follow. Using her life and the world around her she has been able to craft characters and realistic situations that resonate well with her readers. She also has a sense-of-humour that’s reflected within her work establishing her wit, which her ever growing audience has taken to over the years.
Having gone to University as well, she originally studied journalism, giving her strong command over the English language for later on. She always wanted to be a writer though as that’s where her heart truly lay, despite the many detours she took along her path there. All this added up to her becoming a more rounded and relatable writer, something which has also resonated well with her audience.
Eventually getting herself published, she finally achieved that lifelong dream and, much to the delight of her many fans, that’s something she continues to this day. Living with her husband as her son’s at college, she’s always putting pen to paper as she creates her next eagerly anticipated book. With more to come, it looks like she’s not stopping anytime soon, as there’s plenty more planned upon the horizon for this writer yet.
Writing Career
Publishing her first book, Farm Fresh Murder, in 2008, Paige Shelton made her literary debut finally after much deliberation. This was to be the start of a long-running and highly regarded mystery series titled The Farmer’s Market Mystery Series, which have been warmly received over the years since. With an interest in cooking as well, she created the Grandma’s Cooking School Mystery Series too, which was also well received.
Getting published through Berkley by Michelle Vega, it managed to capture the attention of both the critics and the general public alike. Through word-of-mouth as well as marketing, she was able to gain the recognition of both her peers and contemporaries within the field of mystery and suspense. This is something that will carry on into the foreseeable future as it looks like she is now here to stay for some time yet.
Merry Market Murder
Originally published in 2013 on the 3rd of December, this was the fifth book to be released in the Farmer’s Market Mystery series. Continuing with the setting, Shelton uses what has worked before to great effect, building upon the premise, along with the characters. It also manages to further establish the tone and the atmosphere, all whilst introducing a whole new mystery to be solved.
Set over the Christmas season, this instalment has a far more festive theme than the previous entries into the franchise. Featuring Becca Robins as its chief protagonist, she is a resourceful individual who works hard and is able to get to the bottom of the mystery. Set in the Ridgeway Christmas Tree Farm, all the workers are excitedly anticipating the holiday season and all the income it will bring. That’s when Reggie Stuckey decides to start telling everyone that he has sole selling rights during the season, which is a problem as he’s competing with them. With her jam and preserve that she’s hoping to sell, Becca Robins just wishes that everyone could get along and stop fighting. Then Reggie is suddenly found dead with a tree stake right through his chest and it seems foul-play and murder are afoot. Using the clues provided to her, Robins must find the killer after ornaments keep turning up on her stall with little else information provided. Not only that, but with a killer still on the loose it looks as if they will go to any lengths to keep their secret. Just who is the killer, what do they want and will they manage to strike again as they elude the swift hand of justice? Can Becca Robins keep herself safe and out of harm’s way, or will she be the next victim of the killer at large? What will become of them all as they find themselves in the midst of a merry market murder?
Clockwork
This is a stand-alone young adult book from Paige Shelton and her only book of this type, as it seeks to broaden her appeal to a wider audience. First published on the third of April in 2013, there was no other books to come out following this as of yet, as it charts an entirely new direction for the author. Using all the trademarks of young dystopian fiction, she turns them on their head making them all her own for a new and interesting take on the genre.
Set in the future in 2184, New Chicago, sixteen year old Kally Bright works repairing time and fixing clocks. The ruling government control all love and time and manage everything within their citizens lives. As she waits for the ruling on who she is to marry, Kally is suddenly sent back in time to 1750 Scotland on her sixteenth birthday. Here she finds that she can love freely away from the will of the government and their plans. Will she find her true love here? Can she remain in that time forever? What happens when she discovers how things work like clockwork?

Wanted you to know how much I have enjoyed reading your books over the years. You won’t remember me, but I worked with your Dad at Drake in the athletic department. I also have a couple of his books!
The one thing I remember about your dad is that he loved to sing, “Oh Lord it is hard to be humble.”
