The American author Pamela Grandstaff is largely known for her ‘Rose Hill Mystery’ series of books, which has found a large audience worldwide. Knowing her readers well now, she has finely tuned her stories to give them exactly what they want, whilst still giving them plenty of surprises along the way. She’s also written plenty of picture books for younger readers too, showing just how versatile she is as an author with a lot to say.

Due to all of this she has become hugely successful, as she’s found herself being a household name for many over the years. This has seen many readers take to her work, as she also can bring a heavy element of suspense to her novels when needed. Keeping her audience guessing constantly, she always remains one step ahead, as she has plenty more to come yet.

Early and Personal Life:

Growing up in West Virginia, in the United States, this would come to inform much of Grandstaff’s work and career as an author. Drawing heavily from her own upbringing, she would develop her love of reading and writing from an early age, as it would stay with her through the years. Always with her head in a book, she would start writing for herself, and this would evolve in time, bringing her to where she is today.

Developing her craft, she always knew that she wanted to write for a living, and would work on this over time. Educating herself through her constant reading and writing, she would begin to find her own voice as an author. Much of this she would channel into her love of mystery fiction, as it would be a genre that she’d come to admire greatly.

This passion for literature would soon grow into Pamela Grandstaff writing the ‘Rose Hill Mystery’ series of novels. Creating a long-running franchise, she would go on to become the household name that many across the world now know her as today. Writing a new one every year, this would also become a regular occurrence, reaching a huge audience of readers with her innovative style of mystery.

Currently writing from her home in West Virginia, she lives in Ohio River Valley, which is a scenic location providing her with much inspiration. Constantly on the lookout for her next big idea, she makes sure to always seek new and exciting subjects for her novels. Writing children’s books too, she isn’t stopping any time soon, as her writing career grows from strength-to-strength.

Writing Career:

Bringing out ‘Rose Hill’ in 2007, this would not only be the first book in Pamela Grandstaff’s literary career, but it would also be the first in the ‘Rose Hill Mystery’ series of novels. Setting up both herself as a novelist and a new franchise, it would pave the way for more titles to come, establishing her style and her tone. Giving readers an idea of what to expect, it would also introduce the world of Rose Hill for the first time as well.

Largely focusing on mystery novels, her Rose Hill series is notable for the way in which it creates stand-alone mysteries for each novel. It still manages to intertwine the various arcs of the different characters though, melding them seamlessly with the overall narrative. This gives something for both returning fans and newcomers alike, as they can discover the series at their own pace.

In time she would also come to write children’s books as well, with her first picture book being published in 2011. This would be titled ‘June Bug Day and Firefly Nights’, and there’d also be ‘Ella’s New Hat and Her Terrible Cat’ released that very same year. Both would feature fun and simple stories for younger readers, marking somewhat of a departure from her usual more mystery oriented novels.

Receiving acclaim for her work, she is not without critical praise either, with both the critics and the general public appreciating her novels. Writing both mystery fiction and children’s novels, she has proven herself to be a highly adept author at whichever genre she’s working in. There’s definitely more planned on the horizon, as more and more readers will continue to discover her work every day.

Iris Avenue

The third in the Rose Hill Mystery series of novels, this would be released on the 4th of October back in 2010. Published through the ERDT Books publishing label, it would provide another mystery in the franchise, being self-contained, yet still maintaining various character arcs from before. This is something her readers have come to appreciate, as she gives them what they want, along with a few extra surprises along the way.

A drug-dealing turf war is trailed back to the idyllic rural town of Rose Hill, where everything is otherwise serene on the surface. Whilst the investigation is hampered by an FBI agent and county investigator who are bot over-zealous and and highly ambitious, Maggie Fitzpatrick awaits her first love. Disappearing seven years prior, she will once again fall for him, but first they all have secrets to contend with, as they deal with ghosts from the past. Will they find the truth behind it all? How much does everyone really know? Can they solve the case of the bloody trail leading to Iris Avenue?

June Bug Days and Firefly Nights

Initially published through the Createspace Independent Publishing Platform, this would first come out in 2011 on the 1st of May. Not being a part of any series, this would be an entirely stand-alone title, with it being targeted at children this time. Being an illustrated picture book, its a bright story, that young readers can either read themselves, or with their family.

This was illustrated by Pamela Grandstaff herself, as she both wrote and designed the book with its vivid descriptions and pictures. Juxtaposed against one another, it really brings the world into full color for the young readers, letting them really invest themselves in the story. Teaching the young readers about the animals too, it’s an inventive and fun educational story that really makes the most of its material.

This celebrates the childhood wonder of discovering wondrous creatures and the friendships that are formed around them. Georgia and her dog June Bug both head off on an adventure, as they go with their friends Jimmy John, Augustus and Dottie, looking for the amazing creatures that surround their small-town. Heading to Possum Holler, they go to look at the farm there owned by Lily and Simon, as Jun Bug meets fellow dog Zeek, as they searching together. Here they all hope to find an assortment of lightning bugs flying around, as they explore June Bug days and firefly
