Black Sheep

After more than 21 years, the prodigal son, Tucker Hale has finally returned home after he ran off in his teenage years. After a plane crash and several months of therapy, Tucker Hale still walks with a limp. Now, Tucker Hale wants to reconcile with his father. Upon arrival, he notices that the home is dark and his father is long gone. However, the house is not empty. One Harley Sayers, a twenty three year old girl is housesitting for Mr Tucker, since he is away on vacation. Harley is exceedingly flabbergasted, when Tucker Hale reveals his identity. According to his father, Tucker Hale was long dead. After exchanging a few words, Harley manages to convince Tucker Hale to remain for the summer, so that by the time his father returns from his vacation, he is going to find Tucker in the house.

During this time, Harley wants to assist Tucker to improve his strength in the legs. It is also quite evident that Tucker is attracted to Harley, thus he takes the opportunity that she presents him with. Tucker’s plan is to spend more time with Harley in the pool, where he will be required to swim and strengthen his leg muscles, until she submits to him. Despite the fact that Harley shows Tucker that she wants him, she still requires him to put more effort and also confront the pain as well. With that said, the Black sheep is the first book in the New Moon Bay book series. Harley is a highly engaging heroine, whose life circumstances has set her on a narrow and straight path. Tucker on the other hand is not only wounded but disillusioned as well.

Despite the fact that the story is slow paced, the author cleverly escalates the sexual tension without necessarily allowing Harley to step out of her comfort zone, to a point where her actions are farfetched for her character. By using this strategy Patricia was able to create an effect where the reader had to believe the premise, while at the same time anticipating an ending that was not only satisfying but also one that did not disappoint.

Arm Candy

Arm Candy is another highly entertaining book by Patricia Ryan. In this book, Patricia introduces the readers to David Waite, who from the look of things is exceedingly tired of Manhattan Social Climbers. David decides to call in a favour from one of his friends, who is an event planner by profession. David is need of some candy for a fundraising event. Harlan on the other hand tells David that she has the perfect woman for the job. Before relocation to the Big Apple, Nora used to reside in an exceedingly small town in the Midwest. Upon arrival, Nora decided to follow her talent for making jewellery, and she is more than determined to be exceedingly successful. After spending several hours in a train, Nora is exceedingly exhausted, when she finds out what her cousin had arranged for her. It takes a little bit of convincing and Nora agrees because she believes it is going to assist her cousin’s career. However, the more dates that she goes on with David, the more she falls in love with him.

Sexual misunderstandings continue to erupt between the two, she cannot deny the fact that she harbours feelings for David. It does not take long before Nora gets attacked in Central Park. With that said, is Nora going to come clean and confess everything or is she going to keep him at arm’s length? Only time will tell.

Shelter from the Storm

Shelter from the Storm is another highly entertaining novel from the critically acclaimed author, Patricia Ryan. In this instalment, Patricia Ryan introduces the readers to one Marianne. The book begins as Marianne is planning a surprise visit for her boyfriend for their one year anniversary. In an effort to turn into a person that Ryan wants her to be, thus she dresses up and waits for him in bed to return from his Friday poker night. However, as time will tell, Norah is not the only person with a surprise. It does not take long before Norah finds herself at the centre of a hailstorm and an exceedingly sexy stranger. Unfortunately, the man mistakes Norah for a prostitute due to the type of dressing she had on. From the look of things, the man appears to be what Norah needs to overcome her plunging self-esteem.

With that said, Shelter from the Storm is an exceedingly lovely fantasy tale that is filled with very likeable characters. Marianne and Rob fell in love very quickly. Nonetheless, the passion that the two had was more than enough to ensure the two get a happy ending.

Silken Threads

Silken Threads introduces the readers to Graham Fox, who is on a secret mission. His task is to rescue his Lord’s daughter from an abusive husband. Once the task is completed, Graham Fox will receives the twin’s hand in marriage as well as a huge piece of land. However, once he arrived in London, Graham is attacked and almost killed in the process. Joana Chapman finds him and takes him in.
