Author Patrick Logan had a career cutting up body parts, using his Master’s and PhD in pathology. After that ten plus year experience, he prefers to write about autopsies, rather than actually performing them. To him, the smell of Cuban cigars is much better to formalin.

He was born in Toronto, Canada, but would move to Montreal to get his degrees.

He writes the “Insatiable” series, the “Haunted” series, and the “Family Values” series.

Besides working on dead bodies either writing about them or processing them, he has written over twenty scientific articles, edited over one thousand and worked as a ghost writer on many more.

When he is not writing, he is wrestling with his kids, smoking a good Cuban, playing some hockey, and drinking single malt.

“Shallow Graves” is the first novel in the “Haunted” series, which was released in the year 2016. Robert Watts is currently having his worst day; he gets laid off, and then is told that his wife is cheating on him, with his boss. That is just the start.

He finds himself raising his daughter without money, no job, and the house is about to be repossessed. Right when he hits the lowest he has ever been, a stranger comes to visit and has a letter from an aunt Robert had no idea he had.

The offer the guy makes is a simple one: look after his Aunt Ruth while she is dying, and he will have Harlop Estate bequeathed to him. It is where she currently lives. It is really an easy choice and Robert is eager to take the chance on. He is motivated for the fresh start it will give him as well as the prospect of having some financial security.

Spending a few nights in the place makes him question Ruth’s statements about how they are the only ones living in the house. He hears voices and scratching during the night, not to mention a girl with a rat.

Robert and Amy (his daughter) have no house or money and need to live in this place. Robert starts wondering if living in the place is truly worth all of it. Not to mention, if he will be able to survive until he is able to collect his inheritance.

Some enjoyed reading about Robert, as he does right by his daughter, and he did his best to make sure she had everything. Fans of the novel enjoyed this book quite a bit, as they were grabbed from the start and are gripped the entire time they are reading it. Readers enjoyed this one so much they will seek out more by this author.

“The Seventh Ward” is the second novel in the “Haunted” series, which was released in the year 2016. Not every hospital was built with the intention of healing people. Robert Watts, currently in mourning, does not have much down time. He has a house he lives in, and some friends (both new and old) to be with him, but his financial woes are still unresolved.

He has not yet come to grips with some of the stuff that he has witnessed and experienced.

Until Sean Sommers pays Rob, Cal, and Shelly a visit, who offers them more work. This time, they are not called on to purge a haunted estate, rather a hospital ward that has been abandoned.

This is a great sequel, another easy book to read. Fans of the novel enjoyed the experience of reading this book. Some cannot get enough of this author’s work, all of his books are really page turners readers cannot tear themselves away from for very long. The book makes you want to know more, making readers want to get into the next book to find out more.

“Seaforth Prison” is the third novel in the “Haunted” series, which was released in the year 2016. Cal, Robert, and Shelley were just barely able to get out from the Seventh Ward alive, let alone be sane by the end of it. Now they have cash, and they are able to settle into something of a comfortable routine.

There are still some questions that nag the trio, and they are all questions they cannot ignore, once Robert has some dreams. They are dreams of a prison, one that is located on an isolated island that has ties to Leland Black. He has the conclusion that the encounters they have with ghosts are just the start.

Robert believes that they each have a role to play in something bigger, something that has bigger consequences than the things he has already gone and lost. He has to choose how much he would like to risk so that he can find out the truth about his family and his friends.

Fans of the novel find that Patrick was able to do it once again, by delivering another novel that is incredible. Some readers hope that this is a series that continues for many more installments. Once again, readers had a tough time putting this one down for very long. The twists and turns kept things moving very nicely.

“Scarsdale Crematorium” is the fourth novel in the “Haunted” series, which was released in the year 2016. No rest for Cal and Shelly, as they get right back to it. Using Allan’s technological expertise, they are trying desperately to figure out a much less personal way to ship the dead right back to where they belong. They have enemies among the living now to go along with the dead. These are some vengeful living enemies that are looking to get their pound of flesh.

Robert looks even deeper into his past, pulling up secrets that start making him question all he knows about reality and himself too. Right when he is trying to accept what he finds, it is obvious that he is not the only one that looks for Robert’s secrets. People he used to trust are willing to ensure his past is still unknown.

That is nothing of his foes, the ones that meet up in a ruined crematorium, who look to unleash their own hell on Earth. Now they have help to do so.
