Patti Larsen is a bestselling and award-winning author who has a passion for paranormal fiction. She has said that she usually hears her character’s demands in her head which forces her to put them on paper.

Over the years, she has loved to change what she wanted to do as a career depending on her mood at the time. She has dabbled in everything from running her own hair salon, working in film and improv theater, and writing TV shows.

However, writing is something that has always been persistent in calling her home. For the longest time, she had set her eyes on literary domination, which meant getting her stories out into the world.

She still believes that being a writer is one of the coolest careers ever. As for the rest of who she is, she loves to describe herself as a slightly round, short, and blonde woman.
She is one person who can never get enough of the big picture and loves talking to people about deep topics.

Patti Larsen currently makes her home in Canada, where she gets to enjoy some of the most beautiful beaches found anywhere on the planet.

Patti Larsen was born and still lives in Prince Edward Island in Canada with her husband and several pets.

The author was brought up in a family of avid readers of heroic fantasy and science fiction. Her father who loved paranormal fiction spurred in her a love of all things paranormal.

When she was twelve years old, she discovered that she did not like reading stories as much as she loved writing them. During this time she was addicted to authors such as Marion Zimmer Bradley, Anne McCaffery, Isaac Asimov, and David Eddings.

While she now writes young adult fantasy, she loved reading old-fashioned fantasy in her earlier years.

When Larsen embarked on her writing career she thought fantasy with its space battles, sorcery, and swords was the perfect genre. However, it was Nancy Drew who most incited her interest in storytelling.

Over the years she has spent years learning the writing craft in one form or another through her deep passion for screenwriting university English and journalism.

In fact, she was heading to Toronto to become a TV writer when the idea for the first novel came to her.

Even though her husband hates it, Patti Larsen has said that she often gets the inspiration for her novels from voices in her head. Even though he always tries to shush her when she makes that assertion, she does not care.

Her husband believes that it makes her sound nuts but she just cannot help but hear clear and loud badgering voices telling her to tell their stories. For the most part, she hears voices from bossy teenage characters who can be very persistent.

Another huge inspiration for her fantasy fiction has to be the many hours of “Dungeons and Dragons” that she played ever since she was nine.

As such, dreaming, breathing, and living in the worlds that her father and other creatives built has to be one of the biggest influences in her work. Other influences include studies on the classical history of ancient Egypt and Greece.

As for books, she grew up on science fiction and fantasy and hence she is influenced by some of the most popular works in those genres.

Some of these include the likes of “The Dragonriders” and “The Belgariad” and anything by the likes of Asimov, Tolkien, and Andre Norton.

Patti Larsen’s novel “Family Magic” is the story of Sydlynn Hayle whose father is a demon and her mother a witch while she wants to be just a normal person.

Her life could not have been more complicated as she has to start over in a new city, please her coven, and fend off a bully cheerleader who despises her.

But those are the least of her problems since Brad Peters the boyfriend of her nemesis on the cheerleading team is showing interest in her. Brad is a handsome and delicious youth that almost every woman would be hard pressed to not accept his advances.

However, Quaid Moromond the darkly yummy witch has been giving her nightmares that she finds it hard to focus on fitting in.

Moreover, she also has to deal with the endless escapes of her crazy grandmother which has been driving everyone in her family to the brink of despair.

Sydlynn is also finding herself between a coven site and a rock and is forced to take on supernatural powers to protect a coven that has been blaming her for all manner of things.

The only person who can save her family’s powers is Syd but she will have to act fast before her family destroys her as it does not trust her.

“Witch Hunt” by Patti Larsen is set six months after the events of the first novel of the series. Sydlynn Hayel is still attending the same school and living in the same town but now has a boyfriend and a new set of friends.

He has been enjoying spending time with her friends and has been attending parties and learning to harness her supernatural powers.

Things go haywire when one of the parties she had attended turns disastrous. An ancient power rises up and begins feeding on any kids it can find that have supernatural powers.

When Suzanne her mean nemesis becomes possessed, coven members and several of the town folk go missing. Syd’s coven scrambles into action and this is when things get really interesting.

Meanwhile, Syd’s grandmother continues with her many antics, and the only way they can subdue her is by supplying her with tequila and chocolates.

There is also Sassafras the silver Persian car who adds a lot to the magical story, as he seems to be someone else imprisoned in a feline’s body.

Patti Larsen’s novel “Demon Child” continues to follow Syd, a woman who has only ever wanted to be normal. In the present, the rift between the demons and her has been widening and a future that is normal seems to be on the horizon.

However, Syd has been having second thoughts, particularly when Meira her little sister is kidnapped by a vampire.

Moreover, her normal life has been falling apart since Benjamin the new kid has been expertly turning her new set of friends against her.

Syd now understands the value of her power but it could have been too late. She is now possessed by a demon that could have its own agenda and may have to be confronted sooner rather than later.
