Paul Di Filippo is an American author of fiction.
Paul was born on October 29, 1954. He was born in Rhode Island in the Woonsocket area. He specializes in writing primarily science fiction stories.
Before this career turn, he was a reviewer for a variety of print magazines. These include Asimov’s Science Fiction, Nova Express, Interzone, Science Fiction Eye, Science Fiction Weekly, and more. He belongs to the Writer’s Workshop of Turkey City.
He wrote under the pen name of Philip Lawson for his series Will Keats with author Michael Bishop. There have been several novels that were published under the Lawson pen name by Paul and Michael. His writing is considered to belong to the tradition of “the bizarre” and “weird”.
He has been the accomplished composer of not only just full length novels but a variety of short stories. Some of them have been put together in collections that have been praised far and wide. These include Last Pages, Strange Trades, Little Doors, Fractal Paisleys, and his novella that was nominated for multiple awards “A Year in the Linear City”.
He also came out with a collection called ‘Destroy All Brains’ that came out from Pirate Writings but the publishing is rare due to its quick run in print. The author advises readers that if you see a copy of it, you might want to buy it!
Paul’s short stories are very popular and sometimes even provide distraction from his novels and their impact. From Fuzzy Dice to Ciphers to Joe’s Liver and more, this artist provides a sensibility that may be offbeat but is also paired with compact and exquisite prose, soulful characters and characterizations, and dialogue that is so funny that it can often make you laugh right out loud!
These attributes are just a small part of what makes his work so interesting. The voice is addictive and compelling and he has been at times a finalist for various awards including BSFA, Nebula, Hugo, Philip K. Dick, World Fantasy and Wired Magazine Awards. He currently resides in Rhode Island in Providence.
Paul Di Filippo is the creator of the popular Glen and Stan fictional series. The unique series had its debut story come out in 2018. The second is titled “The Deadly Kiss-Off” and came out in 2019. If you are looking for an intriguing mystery series to check out, then make this one it!
Glen and Stan’s first book is titled The Big Get-Even. Scams only count if they get pulled off. When a lawyer that has been disbarred from practicing law and a former arsonist find themselves crossing paths, neither of them could have predicted what was about to happen next– but neither of them will be surprised by it, either.
The arsonist and the lawyer quickly find that they are putting together a scam in real estate that will be as elaborate as it will be successful. The goal is to get a wealthy speculator with shady aspects to hand over $20 million big ones. The million dollar sting could not be more personal. They say stick to business and don’t take it over to the personal level, but Stan can’t help himself.
Stan and Vee both have a personal stake in this one. For the former arsonist, Vee, and Glen, each of them has a solid motive to pull this thing off. Glen used to be a lawyer but now he’s breaking the law in order to get his fair share of the cash.
As the bonds between the conspirators start to deepen, Glen is starting to find out that he thought that this whole adventure would be predictable but this gig might demand that he lay a lot on the line. It may involve more than just getting the loot. With a cast full of interesting characters and plenty of plot twists along the way, you won’t believe the action that goes on here!
Can this unlikely group pull of their big scam and make it all the way to the end so that they can collect their big payoff? Collecting the cash at the end would be a great reward. However, getting there might end up being even more scary than the cash that would be waiting for them once they cross the finish line! Can Vee, Stan, and Glen make it? You must rush out and get a copy and read to the end to see what happens!
The Deadly Kiss-Off is the sequel and the second installment of the Glen and Stan series. If you loved the debut story of these two scammers, check out this exciting plot and see what this funny pair are up to!
Stan and Glen might not have a lot in common, but there is no question that the two of them are due for stardom. The pair have returned from a huge adventure and now they have another scheme going. It’s the type of scam that they have come to rely on, where they start to get rich really quickly or fail while trying.
Counterfeit merchandise is part of what they’re going into this time, and they want to traffic some computer chips while they’re at it. The pallets of ‘Grade Z’ chips could be turned into military hardware that will no doubt be of interest to all types of people around the world, from drug lords to despots and more.
They are hoping to do what they can to turn a genius invention from a new inventor into what will hopefully be an endless bonanza. All while bankrolled by a crime boss in town– what could possibly go wrong?
With complications starting to come up from a wife that goes astray along with some attractive Europeans and a girlfriend that is lonely in her entrepreneurial life and finds that her tropical island might just be conducive to moral loosening, this book has a lot going on!
When you throw in an expert in explosives, you find that you have an adventure that is equal parts deadly and hilarious while remaining entertaining! Check it out and see what you think.
