A British writer Paula Harrison is an author of children’s literature, as she has made a name for herself writing for the young. Clearly holding a gift, she manages to relate her writing to young readers, something which many other writers can only aspire to. Knowing and understanding her craft, she is able to write in a style that is both witty and engaging on a personal level.

Early and Personal Life

Being born in Bletchley, which was home of the famous code-breakers during the Second World War, Paula Harrison was then raised in Bedfordshire. Always focused upon coming a writer, she would have another set of experiences prior to achieving her main dream. Over time she would focus herself upon becoming a novelist, taking in inspiration and ideas from the world around her.

Working with children throughout her life she clearly had a gift for writing for a young audience in a style that resonated with them. Educating herself to a high-degree, she managed to gain the necessary background required for becoming a writer of children’s fiction. This would also allow her to develop herself over the years, giving her a greater degree of control over both her and her material.

She would go on to work in a primary school whereby she would gain an insight into the young mind, allowing her to develop her material. Teaching them she would also learn from them in turn, understanding their sense-of-humor and unique ways of looking at the world. Reading to them as well, she would find out what it was really like to tell stories to a young audience, seeing how they reacted in the process.

After having her own children Paula Harrison then decided to focus herself upon her own writing and stories. Seeing how they reacted to her ideas she would go on to flourish as an author, creating worlds and characters that they really responded to. There’s a lot more to come still, as she plans to continue writing for some time to come, as more books are set for the future.

Writing Career

It was in 2012 that she would release her first initial debut novel, as she made her entry on to the literary scene. Starting up the ‘Rescue Princesses’ children’s series of books, she brought out the novel titled ‘The Secret Promise’, as more followed shortly after. Establishing her as a definite name to watch in the world of literature, she would go on to bring out a vast quantity of books in the years to follow.

Not only bringing out the ‘Rescue Princesses’ series, which is perhaps one of her most successful and popular franchises to date, she also released a number of others too. With ‘Faerie Tribe’, ‘Red Moon Rising’, ‘Secret Rescuers’, ‘Robyn Silver’ and ‘Tiara Friends’, she would come to bring out a number of other successful franchises too. These would also work at further building her own brand in the process too, as children worldwide would follow and appreciate them.

Seen as a writer who is at the forefront of her field, she has received good reviews for her work from the critics too. Considered to be one of the best at what she does, she has been able to garner acclaim from both the critics and the general public alike. This has seen her gain a worldwide following, as her writing has built a legacy that resonates with young readers universally.

Attending readings of her work, she would also read out some of her material, getting feedback on her stories constantly. This is something she would do prior to becoming a writer, as she would read to her classroom, seeing how the children reacted there. Not only does all of this allow her to become a lot more prolific as an author, but it also gives her an insight into her own writing process.

Keeping a strong profile online and off, she still writes for children regularly from her home in Buckinghamshire. Spending time with children as a teacher and as a parent she also continues to learn from them, inspiring her own writing in the process. With more books planned for the future, she will carry on writing for some time to come, as her writing career grows from strength-to-strength.

The Baby Firebird

Released through the ‘Alladin’ publishing outlet in 2017 on the 18th of July, this was to be the third book in the ongoing ‘Secret Rescuers’ series. Carrying on from where the last left off, it develops this magical land even further, building upon everything that came before. It also provides another adventure for the characters, allowing them to develop in the process as well, becoming stronger and more tightly defined.

Set in a far-off magical land of make-believe, this book sees the ever intrepid group known as the ‘Secret Rescuers’ looking to protect some magical creatures. With his eyes set on acquiring them, the evil Sir Fitzroy aims to make them his own, something that they must try and prevent. It is the firebirds that are in danger too, as Talia the firebird meets another baby firebird becoming the best of friends. Can Talia and Lucas save their home though? Will Sir Fitzroy get his way? What will become of the baby firebird?

The Stolen Crystals

Originally released through the ‘Scholastic Books’ publishing label, this was first brought out in 2013. Setting up the fourth in the ongoing ‘Rescue Princesses’ series of novels, this would continue on directly from the last. Using the same world and characters it would develop them for the young readers, taking them forwards in the process and expanding upon them.

Spending their time staying with Jaminta, the Rescue Princesses are having the time of their lives in the Kingdom of Onica. There’s the Cloud Mountain, along with the little panda that resides within it, as it all seems just some much fun there. That’s when someone attempts to steal the lost Onica Crystals from the mountain regardless of the panda, and it is up to the Rescue Princesses to save them. Can they save the crystals? Will the help the panda? What will become of the stolen crystals?
