Pauline Baird Jones is an American published author of fiction.

The writer says that she has always had a rough time when it comes to dealing with reality, something that started when she was young. Jones can attribute this to her siblings. She had four brothers and had to contend with them regularly. Thanks to this, she says that she knows when it comes to the world, some people need love and some people just need to be shot.

She’s referring to her fictional characters. In literature, Baird Jones figured that she would be able to do both and with no harm to any real people done. So started her outlet in romantic suspense, the only logical place for her to start. Pauline quickly found once she started writing that there were far more worlds beyond that just of romantic suspense waiting for her to explore.

Jones quickly expanded into other genres, getting into the genre of science fiction and some steampunk. But that alone did not satisfy her, and so she decided to explore the other genres. Today she will try some of this and that, writing in whatever genre she sees fit. She creates characters but admits that when it comes to their fictional lives, she is rampaging through them like the monster Godzilla might.

Jones was written romance stories, thrillers, mystery, fantasy and more. She enjoys scenes of peril and even putting her characters into them, perhaps because it’s they that have to experience it and not her. However, the writer more than makes up for this by deciding to give the good characters the joyful endings that she feels that they deserve. Not so for the morally corrupt characters, as she admits that the ‘bad’ characters get the justice that they so richly deserve.

Jones is the creator and the author of the engaging Lonesome Lawmen series. This fictional series first kicked off in 1999. That is when the debut novel came out for the first time, titled The Last Enemy. She would follow this up with the sequel, titled Byte Me. Missing You would be released in 2002, and the fourth novel to continue the series is titled Lonesome Mama.

Jones has also penned several other series. These include Project Enterprise, the Big Uneasy series, and Uneasy Future. She has also released several stand alone novels under her name, including The Spy Who Kissed Me. Her novella Nebula Nine was published in 2018.

The Last Enemy is the first book to come out in the Lonesome Lawman series. If you are interested in stories that are dripping with suspense and packed with thrills, this is the story for you!

The main character in this story is Dani Gwynne. She makes her living as an author of romance novels. Now she finds herself caught up in a situation that could have been ripped out of the pages of a paperback novel.

Dani is doing whatever it takes to come up with a plan to survive without knowing if it will work. There are two men out there that want her, and for very different reasons. One of them wishes her dead, and so she is racing against the clock to save her own life. Coming off a betrayal from people that were supposed to do what they could to protect her, Dani is caught in a web of perilous undertaking.

In Denver, known as the mile-high city, Dani Gwynne must try to manage her fear as she does what she can to save her own life. Cursed with a great fear of heights, she is staying out of the public eye in the hopes that she’ll avoid an untimely death. Meanwhile, Matthew Kirby is a Deputy United States Marshal that is put in charge of finding her.

This lonesome lawman is no stranger to tracking and hunting people down. In fact, that is the type of thing that they have trained for and are known for doing the best at. It’s probably a good thing that Kirby is known as the top tracker that they have. But that’s not doing him much good as he tries to put order to chaos because he has had no luck closing the gap between him and a killer that might be more difficult to apprehend than he would have thought.

The killer is out there, and Kirby has limited time if he wants to catch this guy and hopefully save the writer in the process. But as the hours go by, can the Marshal get the job done? Or will his failure mean that Dani comes to her unfortunate demise and a killer gets away free? The stakes have never been higher in Denver. What will happen in the end? You have got to pick up this book to find out!

Byte Me is the exciting second installment of the Lonesome Lawman series by Pauline Baird Jones. The first book laid down the suspense and introduced readers to Matthew Kirby. Now they can follow along as Kirby’s story continues.

When we last left Kirby, he was trying to track down a killer and save a life– all part of his job and a day’s work. But he’s not the only member of the family that seems to have a passion for this type of work. Now Jake, his younger brother, has also decided to pursue a career with the U.S. Marshals.

Accepted into service, Jake has become one of the best trackers that they have. He has a reputation for always getting his man and apprehending fugitives. This time, he’s got another case.

Tasked with taking down a group of cyber thieves with their own agenda, Jake is already making progress. He’s on their trail and closing in fast as it carries him to the state of Colorado. There he finds a country bar that is run by Phoebe Mentel, a woman that is as attractive as she is mysterious.

In getting to know her, he might find that they both are scared to love. But could Phoebe be more closely related to his job than he realizes? Read Byte Me to find out how this technical thriller ends for yourself!
