If you are looking for a cool and original series to read, then check this one out!

Sweet Man Is Gone is the first novel in the Maxx Maxwell series. In this debut story, readers get the chance to meet the main character for the first time.

Maxwell is a blues singer by profession and she has all of the things that are required in order to become a star. She is talented, she’s beautiful, and she is smart. She boosted her looks to get ahead in the industry by going blonde, getting some plastic surgery focusing on creating a new nose, and getting a wardrobe that matches the part.

It’s going to be tough to make it, but Maxx wants to do everything possible to make sure that she has a shot at being famous. She is currently trying to make her small apartment work for her, even if it is a bit scruffy and run down. She is resigned to being in this Hackensack flat in New Jersey and waiting tables until she finally makes it big.

Everyone knows that stars have to rough it for a little while before they make it, and this singer is going to do what it takes to pay her dues before getting to the top. The job as a waitress is not her most favorite thing in life and it’s giving her a fair amount of stress. At the same time, her band is finally starting to do well. Maxximum Blues is gaining notoriety and a following.

Part of their ascension is partially due to Jimmy Nashville, their guitarist. He has the type of good looks that take a band to the top. He fits the role of a heart breaker and handsome rock star and has a personal life to match it. His life is a constantly revolving door of different girlfriends.

Jimmy is a huge part of the band and Maxx really wants them to go all the way. But things might become a little more complicated when the guitarist ends up dying due to a freak accident. Jimmy falls out of a window on the ninth floor of his apartment building from his own window. The fall is of course fatal and there is barely any way that he could have survived it.

Maxx and the rest of the band are horrified and devastated by news of the accident. The guitarist was such a key part of their group and the dynamics. Not only are they upset, but now tensions that have been existing in the group for a while are now rising to the surface. Everyone is under more pressure than ever and their musical future together is now up in the air.

This waitress is sad that Jimmy is gone, but now has to contend with the reality that this might have an effect on their band and her dreams of success as a singer in the industry. She also has to confess to herself that even though she always tried her best to turn down his endless charm, she also did have a soft spot in her heart for this band member.

Maxx had no idea that Jimmy had intentions of ending his life, but it seems that way when the authorities rule that his death was a suicide. Why would someone with so much to live for end his life? It doesn’t make sense. It’s not like he said goodbye to any of his many girlfriends before he left, and the guitarist had a full social schedule. He hadn’t retreated from life or gone into a dark spell or anything.

Just like that, this singer and waitress decides that she is going to look into this case for herself. Something about the way that Jimmy died with everything to live for makes her think that this could be murder. Either way, she needs to find out more about what is going on before she can get any type of closure.

Maxx is on a mission to try and find out what really happened that night and is going to do everything that she can to discover the truth about her friend’s passing and if anyone is responsible for it.

Can Maxx discover the culprit and bring them to justice? The more that she follows the leads up, the more that Maxx finds that there were a lot of people that had incentive to knock Jimmy off.

As she goes further into the mysterious past of this guitarist, will this singer regret her choice to find out more? Can she bring a killer to justice, or is it only wishful thinking that this was not her band mate’s choice? Read this debut mystery story to find out!

Got No Friend Anyhow is the second novel in the Maxwell series by Peggy Ehrhart. If you enjoyed all of the thrills of the first story, then check out this sequel as well.

Now that Elizabeth, better known as Maxx, has moved on from one mystery, it’s time to focus on getting back to making music. Her band is doing better than ever, establishing itself in the blue scene of Manhattan.

Putting out an album will cement their appeal. The CD is nearly done when their producer goes missing. With her ex-boyfriend trying to get her back, can she achieve her goals? Read this book to find out!
