Penny Green, as one of the very first female reporters on Fleet Street during the 1880s, has her work cut out for her. Whether she is investigating the mysterious death of one of her friends or reporting on a serial killer in the slums, she has to rely on her determination and wits to learn the truth.

“The Teacher” is the first short story in the “Penny Green” series and was released in the year 2017. London in 1881. A young teacher dies at a school only weeks after her sister did. Is it just a tragic coincidence or is it something more sinister?

Penny is suspicious however there is nothing to suggest that the sisters were murdered. The cops aren’t interested and the school just wants to move on from the tragedy. How can she persuade anybody to listen to her? Penny takes a risk by taking matters into her own hands. However the risk might be a step too far.

“Curse of the Poppy” is the fifth novel in the “Penny Green” series and was released in the year 2018. A guy gets murdered in an opium den in Limehouse. A woman dies during a burglary in Fitzrovia. Penny suspects these deaths are both linked, but how can she prove it?

The answer might lie in Whitehall where the India Office reaps all of the benefits of Britain’s opium trade. However when Inspector Blakely starts investigating, an unforeseen danger lurks. Quickly Penny has to act on her own and gets put to the ultimate test when her quest turns personal.

“The Bermondsey Poisoner” is the sixth novel in the “Penny Green” series and was released in the year 2019. London in 1884. One culprit is on the run after a lethal poisoning in Bermondsey. It appears to be a simple case for Penny to report on, until there’s a series of macabre photographs found.

While the poisonings continue, Scotland Yard’s convinced that they have their suspect. It isn’t too long before they are outwitted and nobody’s safe. Penny and James have to avoid all the red herrings and track the manipulative poisoner down.

“An Unwelcome Guest” is the seventh novel in the “Penny Green” series and was released in the year 2019. Some say that the Hotel Tempesta is cursed, however Mr. Gallo, its owner, refuses to believe any of it. When he gets brutally killed one night, the suspicion soon falls on his guests. That is ten suspects in total. And Penny is one of them.

Could his murder have anything at all to do with the criminal mastermind that is on the run from America? Penny and Inspector Blakely have to negotiate a world of stolen paintings, secret codes, and courtesans to prove that Penny is innocent and reveal the truth.
