Penny Warner is one of the highly popular authors from The United States who has written several successful books based on the mystery, children’s books, thriller, and nonfiction genres. Her award winning writing career is comprised of more than 60 novels. Among the prestigious awards that author Warner has won in her writing career include multiple Macavity and Agatha Awards. She likes to write her books mostly on a wide range of subjects ranging from parenting guides for raising children to cooking as well as other interesting activities. The first novel series written by author Warner features the lead character Connor Westphal, who is depicted as a deaf reporter working in the Gold Country in California. This series helped her to win the Macavity Award in the category of the Best First Book of Mystery. The series was also nominated for the Anthony and Agatha Awards. Most of the books in this award winning series are now available on Amazon in the form of Kindle editions. One of the other mystery book series written by author Warner features the main character Presley Parker, who is depicted as an event planner. This series is set in the Bay Area of San Francisco. Each of the novels in this series show a murder mystery that revolves around the events that Presley Parker helps plan. The next series developed by author Warner is a middle aged mystery titled as The Code Busters Club. This series was also nominated for the Agatha Award in the category of the Best Juvenile Mystery.

Author Warner has described 4 kids in the series who help solve the mysteries around them by cracking the codes. Other than the mystery novels, author Warner has also written a nonfiction book titled The Official Handbook of Nancy Drew, which was also nominated for one Agatha Award. Apart from writing novels and books, author Warner also spends some time writing columns for several local newspapers based on the family lives of the people living in the Valley. She also helps to create a few murder-mystery events in order to raise funds for a number of libraries across the country. Author Warner also likes to keep herself busy with teaching child development at the Diablo Valley College, located in San Ramon in California. Warner obtained her Bachelor’s degree in the subject of Child Development and her Master’s degree in the subject of special education. She has been teaching child development at the Chabot College and the Diablo College for a period of 30 years. Among the subjects that she used to teach at the college level include sign language, infant development, special education, and preschool for the deaf children.

One of the well known mystery series written by author Penny Warner is titled as the ‘Party Planning’ series. It is comprised of a total of 5 books, which were published between the years 2010 and 2012. The debut novel of this series was released under the title ‘How to Host a Killer Party’. It was published in the year 2010 by the NAL publication. The plot of this book revolves around the main character named Presley Parker. As the story of the book begins, it is shown that Presley Parker has successfully got her business of party planning started successfully and appears to be pretty much happy about it. Also, she has recently got the chance to plan the sumptuous surprise wedding for Mayor Davin Green’s socialite fiancee. This wedding is scheduled to take place at Alcatraz. During the actual event, a terrible thing happens that turns the occasion upside down. The dead body of the bride is discovered floating in the bay. Also, the original planner of the party is discovered murdered in a nearby place. Due to these incidents, Presley Parker becomes the main suspect of both the murders. Now, she desperately needs the help of crime scene investigator Brad Matthews to help her get out of the difficult situation. If Presley Parker wishes to clear her name of the crime that she believes she has not committed, she is required to work with Brad Matthews and help him solve the mystery related to the murders. Presley needs to get her reputation cleaned as soon as possible in order to prevent herself from exchanging the formal wear with the prison stripes.

One of the other books published in the Party Planning series by author Penny Warner was released under the title ‘How to Dine on Killer Wine’. This book was published by the NAL publication in the year 2012. In this book, it is shown that Presley Parker has successfully carried her event planning business all over San Francisco. Now, she attempts to spread it into the Napa Valley. The occasion is a wine tasting event which turns into a crime scene with an unexpected death and Presley once again finds herself at the center of a murder mystery investigation. As the novel begins, it is shown that the Presley Parker considers her event planning job at the wine tasting party at the Purple Grape boutique winery worth savoring. But instead, she goes on to get the bitter taste of the bad local politics in the Napa Valley. The president of the environmental group called as the Green Grape Association named JoAnne Douglas believes the environment is getting damaged due to the wineries and she seems pretty much determined to see the event sabotaged. However, Presley Parker goes on to host the event without any hitch. But, things turn ugly when the dead body of JoAnne is found under one of the tables at the party. It was understood by everyone that JoAnne Douglas had a number of enemies, but all the evidences pointed towards Marie and Rob Christopher, who were the owners of Purple Grape, as the culprits of the murder. Now, Presley is required to carry out her own investigation of the murder case and find out the real killer before someone else gets killed.
