An American author, Pepper D. Basham is fast becoming well known for her unique and engaging inspirational stories. Early and Personal Life

Growing up in Virginia in the United States, Pepper D. Basham was born in in Galax, spending many of her formative years in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Writing from an early age, she’d be constantly invested in literature, always looking to write and tell her own unique stories. When she was nine years old she would write her first full story, and would later go on to study at college, always developing her craft.

Marrying her music-director turned pastor husband, she would move with him and their children to Tennessee, where they settled down. Continuing to write, she’d also work as a speech-language pathologist, teaching children facing language difficulties. Still working and writing to this very day, there’s definite more to follow in the future, as she continues to look for her next big idea.

Writing Career

The first book that Pepper D. Basham would write was titled ‘The Thorn Bearer’ and this would come out back in 2015. Setting up the ‘Penned in Time’ series of novels, this would not only introduce her as an author for the first time, but establish a whole new franchise. Other series would included ‘Mitchell’s Crossroads,’ ‘Pleasant Gap Romance,’ and ‘Blue Ridge Fairytales,’ all of which would feature recurring themes and ideas.

She would also publish stand-alone titles, the first of which was called ‘Second Impressions’ which was published in 2017. Making a name and brand for herself, she’d also contribute to various other collections and series, often writing alongside other writers. Gaining lots of acclaim from both critics and readers alike, she carries on building upon her fame and profile, with more set on the horizon.

The Thorn Healer

First published through Vinspire Publishing in 2016 on the 6th of December, this was to be the third book in the ‘Penned in Time’ series. Concluding the trilogy, it’s an epic historical romance story filled with love, passion, and faith, combining them all together. Providing a strong message too, it works on so many different levels, and was preceded by ‘The Thorn Keeper’ which was released a few months earlier that same year.

Working as a piece of Christian fiction, this is a story with many layers of meaning, and it’s an engaging story for everyone. This book can be read by itself, despite it having ties to the previous novels in the series, with its own self contained narrative. A historical romance, it also really pays close attention to detail, making it feel wholly believable and easy to relate to.

A Match for Emma

This would first come out on the Kindle platform in 2019 on the 21st of November, marking the third title in the ‘Mitchell’s Crossroads’ series of novels. Featuring different members of the Mitchell family, they can be read alone, although some elements and arcs are brought over. Developing the world and the characters, it really comes to life on the page, gaining a lot of acclaim in the process.

There are clear Jane Austen influences and references here, particularly to that of ‘Emma,’ but it uses them well. Basham really makes the story her own, having a lot of fun with it, while not forgetting the heart and her central message to it all. With the series taking place in the small idyllic town of Ransom, it really comes to life for the reader off of the page.

Always looking out to assist in the love lives of others, Emma Mitchell has the singular plan of heading to culinary school in Europe for herself. Then her best friend Jon Noble moves back to Ransom, followed by her plans for culinary school ultimately falling apart. This leaves her unsure of her future, all the while her once friendship seems to be turning into something quite different. Will the two of them become an item? Where will Emma’s journey take her? What will become of a match for Emma?
