This was a manifesto on how you can live better than ever and longer than ever. It takes on the regular and conventional medical thinking when it comes to aging and in the process shows that there can be a new approach when it comes to extending your health in the long term, keeping chronic disease from hitting you, and more. Every reader who wants to take care of themselves as best as they can with the tools and the information available to them in the modern age will want to get a copy of this book.
When it comes to life, we’d all like to live a little longer into the future and a little better too. This is a manual that you can use to pursue to help you live longer, written by co-author Dr. Peter Attia who is an expert on how you can utilize the latest science out there to give yourself great nutrition, use different techniques to optimize sleep and exercise, and give you the tools to take on mental and emotional health.
Mainstream medicine has never been able to make a ton of progress yet against the aging diseases that affect many people and kill many more. These include cancer, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, type 2 diabetes.
Frequently, medicine attempts to intervene and brings treatments, but they’re much too late to assist at all. This expands the lifespan but it does so at the expense of both health and quality of life. This doctor thinks that we have to replace this old framework with a better strategy to pursue longevity, and replace it with one where action is taken in the moment instead of waiting for later.
This is science, not ‘bio-hacking’. It is a strategic approach to pursuing an extended lifespan while also having the impact of working to improve cognitive, physical, and emotional health. The goal of the authors is not to tell the reader what to do but help spark learning about how you can think about health in the long term so that you can come up with the ideal plan for you as an individual.
Readers will find out more about various topics in this book, including why a simple cholesterol test is not going to be able to tell you enough about your real heart attack risk, how you may already have a liver condition that is frequently under-diagnosed, why exercise is one of the best drugs you can ‘take’ for longevity, and why nutritional biochemistry should be the focus over diets, utilizing data and tech to address your own eating patterns.
Lastly the book focuses on how you should not ignore your emotional health while going after longevity and personal health. Longevity and aging can be affected in our own bodies and we can change our fate with a proper road map that lets us make the most of our genes. Find out more by picking up a copy of the compelling Outlive and absorbing all of this incredible information for yourself!
