Peter Gibbons is a bestselling historical and fantasy fiction author from Kildare that is best known for the “Viking Blood and Blade” series of novels.

He published “Viking Blood and Blade” his debut work of fiction in 2021 and has never looked back since. Gibbons now has more than ten works of fiction to his name spread across at least three series of novels.
He famously won the Kindle Storyteller Literary Award in 2022. He has said that he has always had a passion for science fiction, fantasy, historical fiction, and of course writing.
The author was born in a small town in the United Kingdom known as Warrington. He would then go to John Moores University in Liverpool where he studied law.

He would then get employed in financial services and insurance before he became a full-time author. He currently makes his home in Kildare Island where he lives with his wife and three children.
Peter Gibbons remains an avid reader of fantasy and historical fiction novels whenever he has some downtime from writing his novels.

Like many authors, Peter Gibbons always wanted to be an author from the time he was a child. However, other things would take much of his time and he never wrote anything for decades.
Nonetheless, he always felt that writing was something he could do as he knew he had the imagination and skills to do it even if life often got in the way.

Still, Gibbons attained a lot of success in his day job as he rose through the ranks to lead global sales for a large insurance company.

Coupled with the fact that he was married with children he did not have much free time to write. However, he came to realize that he could no longer blame his job and family when he made time for the Dublin Marathon.
He came to realize that if he wanted something bad enough, he would make time for it. When the COVID lockdowns hit, he decided to give up physical training so that he could write a novel.
Waking up at 5.45 am and writing for an hour and a half every day, he managed to complete his manuscript and publish his novel in 2021.

As for how his love for writing was born, Peter Gibbons has said that he always had his head in a book when he was a child.

Whether it was a picture book of ancient Norse legends and myths or Greek warriors and then on to the likes of Bernard Cornwell, David Gemel, and Tolkien.
This would continue right into his adult years as he dreamed of one day penning a novel himself just like most book lovers do.

He initially tried publishing his novel through a traditional publisher but this proved so difficult and time-consuming until he decided to go with Kindle Direct Publishing.
Once he understood the working of the platform and how easy it was to publish, he was published in no time and has never looked back.
He is now a huge advocate of publishing through KDP which he loves to promote to aspiring authors.

Peter Gibbons’s novel “Viking Blood and Blade” is a novel that has been compared to novels by the likes of Giles Kristian, Bernard Cornwell, and Conn Iggulden. It is an epic adventure full of gore and blood, treachery, and battles.

As England comes under attack by the Vikings, Hundr joins up with a crew of warriors under the command of Einar the Brawler. Hundr fights to develop a reputation under the watch of Ivar and the other fearsome sons of Ragnar Lothbrok.
In his quest, he has to fight the Saxons and even deal with treachery from his own Viking brothers, He will also have to survive brutal attacks, navigate the invasion and find his place in the vicious world he lives in.

“The Wrath of Ivar” by Peter Gibbons is a work set in 866 AD at a time when Saxon England has come under attack from what has come to be known as the Great Heathen Army.

Vicious Northmen have landed on the Frankia coast hungry for glory, conquest, and spoils. Hundr and the crew of the massive Seaworm warship are being hunted by the pitless warrior Ivar the Boneless who is known for his skill with weapons and incomparable fury.

Amid the war with the Franks and the invasion of Brittany, Hundr joins up with the armies of Bjorn Ironside and Haesten who were reputed to be the best fighters of the Viking age.
Ivar the Boneless is hunting down Hundr as he wants to avenge the death of his son by the latter. To make it through, he will have to fight against the vicious Frankish lords and deal with treachery within his own ranks while making his own reputation as a warrior.

Hundr has to survive brutal attacks from Ivar, navigate the war, and find his place in what is a fast-paced and unputdownable adventure full of memorable characters.

Peter Gibbons’s novel “Axes for Valhalla” is a thrilling work of historical fiction full of gore, blood, vengeance, and interesting battles.

The work is set in 873 ADwhere the Viking raids are at their peak in Northern Europe. It has been seven years since Hundr had a ferocious battle with Ivar the Boneless. He has now become a very wealthy and reputable Viking War leader.
Hundr is now getting calls from the past and he answers as he takes his warships filled with his loyal crews to Viking Dublin across the Whale Road in a brutal and vicious fight against Eystein Longaxe.

Hundr is going against a powerful and implacable enemy amidst treachery, shield wall battles, and brutal attacks. Will his savagery and skill be enough for him and his crew to survive?

A little bit disappointed there were no historical notes at the end Axes for Valhalla. Was the Queen of Dublin an historical figure? I enjoyed the book. Thanks
