Peter Nealen
Peter Nealen could be a character in one of his own stories. His training and experience in the United States Marine Corps is comprehensive and impressive.
He became a Marine in 2003 when he stepped off the bus and onto the yellow footprints at MCRD (Marine Corps Recruit Depot) in San Diego, California. Eighteen months in he trained to be a Reconnaissance Marine and then twice was deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan as a Recon Marine.
Later he moved to the reformed Force Recon Company. When he completed his active service he had an impressive list of qualifications: Combatant Diver, Marine Scout/Sniper and Scout/Sniper Team Leader, Navy/Marine Corps Parachutist, and a Combat Tracker.
Now, in civilian life, Mr. Nealen is a freelance writer and contributor for the Military Culture, Foreign Policy, and Defense News website SOFREP.com and has authored a large series of paramilitary and supernatural thriller novels and short stories.
Adding to his impressive list of military experience credentials he has been described as a renaissance man. His reading have included fantasy, folklore, science fiction, and philosophy; all of which have seasoned his writing.
Mr. Nealen has written two non-fiction military information books. Operation Red Wings: The Rescue Story Behind Lone Survivor examines Operation Red Wings and the rescue mission of the lone survivor of a mission into the mountains of eastern Afghanistan.
Marcus Luttrell wrote a bestseller that became a major motion picture telling the story of Operation Red Wings. Four U.S. Navy Seals went into Afghanistan on a mission to collect intelligence and hoping to find and kill a top al Qaeda leader.
The SEAL team was ambushed in a horrific battle. A rescue helicopter with eight SEALs was downed by an RPG (rocket propelled grenade), instantly killing the SEAL team. Of the SEALs on the ground, Marcus Luttrell was the lone survivor.
Mr. Nealen and a team at SOFREP investigated the mission and collected exclusive interviews, military intelligence, after action reports, and untold accounts of the failed mission. His story, using this information and eye-witness reports, is loaded with never reported details and stunning new disclosures that puts the “official” story of how the rescue helicopter was downed into doubt. The potential coverup could have serious repercussions for future helicopter missions.
Mr. Nealen’s second non-fiction military entry is The ISIS Solution: How Unconventional Thinking and Special Operations Can Eliminate Radical Islam. Along with Mr. Nealen, writers Brandon Webb and Jack Murphy examine and cite the dangers of ISIS and how America can manage and impede the religious extremists threatening our country.
It’s their determination that after being at war with terror for two decades there still isn’t any firm strategies to fight radical terrorism. None of our U.S. presidents have been able to submit a strategy for dealing with ISIS. These gentlemen, with their immeasurable military experience, have formed what they think is a viable solution.
A pan-Islamic caliphate is the ultimate goal of ISIS. Using millions of dollars from oil revenue they are becoming a self-funded organization that is cutting a wide path through the Middle East to create the seat of their radical religious empire.
The ISIS Solution examines geopolitical situations, ISIS’s organizational ladder, and offers new strategies and thinking on how to deal with this constant, committed threat to our safety. The authors have a combined fifty-plus years of military intelligence, analysis, and leadership. With this book, they are starting the conversation on how to rescue our country from this threat.
Mr. Nealen has one standalone novel- Kill Yuan. A widower with two children is struggling. Dan Tackett is grieving with the loss of his wife and toiling to make a living for his family. When a mission with a huge price tag is dangled in front of him he is intrigued.
The mission, presented as a counter-piracy job, is grueling. The training is arduous, secrecy is absolute, and the job, if successful is nearly impossible, which accounts for the huge paycheck.
The group of like-skilled contractors Dan is partnered with have been hired to eliminate pirates on a Chinese frigate after the Captain Yuan and crew deserted and mutinied from the company of ownership of the frigate. Finding out they are not simply rescuing a ship but they have to rescue oil company personnel on an island greatly increases the potential losses on this job.
Finding out others are involved, including a Chinese Sea Dragon commando force, who have the same competing mission, to kill Yuan, makes the job seemingly impossible to get out of alive.
Mr. Nealen has written six series of military and science fiction novels, for a total (so far) of thirty-six novels.
The American Praetorians is a series of five novels that run roughshod at a breakneck pace over the world and galaxy. Praetorian Solutions has a bad rep and it’s well deserved. They fight for hire, hoping to right some wrongs and leave the world a better place but now, after their identities were leaked, they are fighting for their own lives.
Mr. Nealen’s Brannigan’s Blackhearts series have a mission- fighting sinister forces of terrorism, military actions, and governmental overthrows. Through these novels, the Blackhearts move as a team in dangerous games of cat-and-mouse.
