Road to Desire
This is the debut novel in the Dog of Fire MC series. The book opens with Danielle Harris breaking down on the road on the busy side of the town at night and has no functional cell phone. It was in the to-buy list along with her broken car, and she had a plan to get one once she got enough money. Danielle is a daughter of an overprotective police chief and, since childhood, has lived a monitored life.
Dani is still trying to come out of the financial and emotional hole she put herself into after landing on a guy who took advantage of her for all she had instead of supporting her. Her family has been so supportive from the start and is willing to help her out, but she wants to prove to them that she is in a position to clean her mess.
Now she’s sitting inside her dead car with a dead phone coming from a first date that bored her to tears. Then her knight appears in a shining biker and offers to help her. The knight’s name is Booker, and he offers to take her to one of the club’s businesses to make arrangements with his guys to repair the car and inform her best friend that she is okay.
Booker, aka Austin Carver, later drops her home, but before then, the tingles start, and some sparks come back and forth. The two realize that their feeling is mutual and plan to be seeing each other often. Booker is in disbelief at what happened since he met Danielle, and he was well caught. He tries to keep her at arm’s length, but when he receives a threat from an unexpected source, he starts to fall fast and hard for the woman who can tame his wild heart.
Will Booker find the source of the threat in time?
This cute and curvy kindergarten teacher had her life complicated by her family, all working in law enforcement, including his father, a police chief. After the meeting, the two realize they live in totally different worlds, and Booker is sure that Dani is his type of woman this time. He has to make it clear to her and make it work between her and his brothers in the MC.
Things start happening fast, and Dani has to hold brakes on their attraction since Booker seems to be pushing her fast and hard. He’s sure of what he wants, but since Dani had a bad past relationship experience, she is afraid to find herself on the same path again. Austin has gone through it all and fallen in love with her and might crush it if it means to scratch an itch when steady and slow is part of the game plan. Will Dani fall in love with a man who appears to be everything she’s been warned about?
This only lasts until she meets a vixen with eyes that resemble those of Austin and learns more about his world and Austin himself and decides to take a chance on honesty in Austin’s words and eyes. She starts falling hard and fast as Austin, and a mistake from her past puts her in some danger that only Austin and the rest from his world can handle.
The infusion of humor, Dani’s family, the brotherhood of the Main character, the secondary storyline with Hawk and Austin were all likable. The spicy and sweet biker romance was fantastic and will keep the reader hooked to the last page.
Witness
This is the first book in the Guardian series. The story begins with Brock Williams and team doing investigations on reports that a deserted house has some weird activities going on. In their raid, they find two children and a wounded woman. Brock slowly questions her, and from her story, he realizes that the three fled a bad situation and there are others they should look for.
Brock isn’t sure what they’re dealing with, but he’s now certain that Bailey Harper is the primary witness and has to keep her alive. Soon he realizes that the case is personal and is determined to do anything to solve the case while keeping Bailey safe. Bailey is from a wealthy family and has recently graduated from college.
Bailey had a harrowing experience after allowing her roommate to take her to a party, and everything got messy from that time. She is drugged, assaulted, and kidnapped along with her friend. Now she’s hiding after a stranger attempted to kill her at the hospital and is confused about her feelings for Brock. She has never been attracted to a man before, but Brock only sees her as his job and keeps her at arm’s length.
She is frustrated, and later she learns that she’s not the only person eagerly waiting for the case to end to explore their feelings. When the answers come out, they shock her but get relieved when Brock stays on her side, helping her face it all.
Brock is aware that Bailey’s parents are not good, and it seems they are behind her and the children kidnapping. She’s a feisty young lady, and even after all faced and everything that went on in the story, she maintains a positive outlook. She uses the worst situation and finds love when least is expected. On the other side, despite the feeling he had for her, Brock tries his best to stay professional.
For anyone looking for a light and quick read, Witness is an ideal book. The author infuses some suspense and twists to keep the reader engaged. Be sure to get a lot of fun and action in this first installment.
