Publication Order of Quentin Black: Shadow Wars Books

Quentin Black (Series by J.C. Andrijeski)
Author J. C. Andrijeski writes the “Quentin Black” series of paranormal mystery novels that have science fiction elements to them. The series began publication in the year 2015, when “Black in White” was released.

Quentin Black is an antihero psychic detective and Miri Fox is a forensic psychologist. Black enters into Miri’s life and pretty much turns it on end when he introduces her to a whole side of herself and the whole world that she lives in which she never realized existed.

“Black in White” is the first novel in the “Quentin Black” series and was released in the year 2015. Meet Quentin Black: Psychic, private investigator, and potential murderer.

Gifted with an uncanny sense about people, psychologist Miri Fox works as profiler for the San Francisco cops. When Nick Tanaka, her best friend and homicide cop, believes he has nailed the serial killer known as the “Wedding Killer”, she agrees to check the guy out, using her talents to find out the truth.

However the suspect, Quentin Black, is far from what she expected. He claims he is hunting this killer as well, and the longer that she talks with him, the more determined she gets to reveal his secrets. When he confronts her about the true nature of her strange “insight”, she gets thrust into Black’s odd world, and caught up in a game of cat and mouse with a lethal murderer, that may just be Black himself.

Worse, she finds she is irresistibly drawn to Black, a complication that she doesn’t need with a best buddy that is a homicide cop and a boyfriend that is in intelligence. Can Miriam actually see a way out of this or is her future covered in Black?

“Black as Night” is the second novel in the “Quentin Black” series and was released in the year 2015. Miri Fox gets a call from Quentin, her current employer, and he is asking for help from a Bangkok jail. She has to fly across the globe to go get him. She finds him working undercover inside a gang of criminals, attempting to learn who is killing street kids and burning their bodies inside of Buddhist temples.

Black is not the only one that is interested in these crimes, and pretty soon his investigations get the attention of a crime syndicate from out of Russia which does not appreciate his meddling. When Miri arrives to help him, events rapidly spiral out of control, and she finds herself to be the hunted.

“Black on Black” is the third novel in the “Quentin Black” series and was released in the year 2015. Black vanishes, leaving Miri all alone in San Francisco just days after they have returned from Bangkok. No explanation. Not a word about where he is, or what he’s doing, what his mysterious new contract entails or even who exactly he is working for. He only drops some cryptic hints for her, leaving behind breadcrumbs about what he’s doing, where he’s at, and what all of it means.

Miri can feel Quentin more with each passing day. She feels quite a bit for him, from her dreams and her waking life, that her world begins to spin out of control, particularly when things between Quentin and his new employer start to sour. Black is surely in danger, however he will not admit that to her neither. Worse, this new “job” of his begins looking more like he’s being ran through the gauntlet, proving his loyalty to his race and to the psychopathic Lucky Lucifer, who controls their own mysterious cult of seers from out of Europe.

Miri, who is convinced that Quentin’s life is in danger, realizes that she is the only one able to save him. However to help him, she must cross some lines that she swore she would never cross, exposing herself in a way which will alter her life forever.

“Black is Back” is the fourth novel in the “Quentin Black” series and was released in the year 2016. Miri and Black get thrown into a high profile murder case when a former client of Miri’s is the next victim. When the corpse is discovered, beheaded and tied to the pier, detectives show up in San Francisco from Los Angeles, certain that it is the infamous serial killer that they’ve been hunting for, known just as “The Templar”, which is his media name.

While the Templar continues cutting swath through San Francisco, his victims start showing a new pattern, though, a pattern which seems to have Miri in its center.

To make things more complex, Quentin and Miri are going through a Seer-mate bonding, and they are having an odd effect on everybody around them as a result. Black decides to use his old black ops connections to attempt locating this killer, Miri is left behind in San Francisco to just help Nick, until the murderer forces them both into a final showdown.

“Black and Blue” is the fifth novel in the “Quentin Black” series and was released in the year 2016. Quentin takes on a new consulting job with the LAPD, aiding them track down a contract killer that left behind a corpse behind the Los Angeles Theater. Despite Miri’s lingering fears after what happened to Quentin during the previous murder case he worked on, he assures that it is routine, that he is not going to be doing any fieldwork, and that nothing could potentially go wrong.

Then during his first night on the job at the Port of Los Angeles, all hell breaks loose. He wakes up in a nightmare that he could not have foreseen, without any way out and no clue how he even got there. Robbed of his psychic sight, he is unable to call to her for any help, or use his abilities to discern where he’s at, who it is that took him, or what they want.

Miri is frantic, at least on the outside, working with Black’s team and the cops to locate him. She has less information than even Black does, until a confession comes in from Uncle Charles brings her facing a much older foe, the same foe which might’ve murdered her whole family.
