R.A. Steffan is a USA Today bestselling author of urban fantasy fiction novels from New Mexico.

She has said that she loves living in New Mexico as it is a place where roadrunners are in constant search of their coyote victims in the desert and the sunsets usually paint the mountains a brilliant purple.

Steffan published “We Feared to Fly” her debut novel in 2015 and this would be the novel that would spawn the “Queens Musketeers” series of novels. The author now has more than 50 works to her name and has shown no sign of slowing down.
She has always been a rebel and loves to stick it to the man by illegally harvesting greywater from the bathroom and kitchen sinks, which she uses to water her many trees.

This rebellious spirit extends to her writing too where you can find anything from bisexual, gay, straight, and non-gender conforming love of all flavors.
She also includes aspects of good triumphing over evil, families of choice, danger, adventure, and profound friendships.

When Steffan is not writing her bestselling works of fiction, she can be found taking care of her small menagerie of animals and having a lot of sex of the non vanilla variety.

Steffan loves to refer to herself as a forty-something-year-old former rancher from the American Midwest and specifically flyover country.

Nonetheless, she has been living in a mid-sized college town for years, where she loves to keep ducks in the backyard against the city by-laws.
At some point, she decided that she would like to become an author. Unlike other authors, she is not a person that always wanted to be an author.

In 2005, she began writing fanfiction for personal enjoyment. She would then branch out into nonfiction content creation and ghostwriting to supplement her income.

She self-published her first work in 2015 and it was a commercial disaster that she has not yet gotten over to this day. While it was a low point in her life, she picked herself up and took low-paying and backbreaking shift jobs.
Nonetheless, she promised her husband that she would be writing full-time within eighteen months. While her husband did not believe her since she had too much on her plate, she would not back down.
Still, it would take more than twenty months of working more than 100 hours every day to become a full-time author in 2018.

As for the inspiration for the bestselling “Queens Musketeers” series of novels, R.A. has said that he got it from TV.

Long before he became a professional author, he was a huge fan of the “Musketeers” TV series on the BBC. Soon enough, she began penning fan fiction inspired by the show.
For some reason, she met some very spectacular authors in the fandom for the series. They also had access to a vibrant fan culture which pushed her to produce her best work.

One day it occurred to Steffan that since Dumas’ work was in the public domain, she could publish her own “Musketeers” stories as long as he differentiated her stories from the BBC version.
The Musketeers written by Dumas were thus something of a gateway drug and served to help her transition from fanfiction to original fiction.

Book One of The Last Vampire series of novels by R.A. Steffan opens with the lead discovering a hot vampire locked in her garden shed. It is bad enough but things only get more complicated when he tries to get out.
While he was growing up, her father had told her many times that she would end up badly. Since she had grown up being told some bad things, it eventually got to her.

Nonetheless, she never thought that her bad end would have to do with a furious vampire with a panty-melting English accent and a severe case of iron deficiency. But she should not have been surprised.

Ever since her father had been killed in what is believed to have been an assassination, things have not been the same. She has always felt something frightening and vast beneath the fabric of her world that humans were not supposed to know.
But finding that she had been right has not been as satisfying as she thought it would be. The thing she needs most is just to stay alive to determine if the vampire that just bit her is one of the bad guys or the good guys.

In Book Two of The Last Vampire series of novels by R.A. Steffan introduces the lead who is determined to find her father who has been taken hostage by her worst enemies.

Things would have been a lot easier for her if she was not the target of almost every Fae in Chicago. However, she will not let anyone get her blood except for the 7-century-old vampire that had saved her.
There are many times when she believes the man is a little insane. Nonetheless, he remains the only supernatural being she has ever met who sees her as a person rather than a piece on a chessboard.
