Writing under the name of R.C. Ryan, the American author Ruth Langan has been producing books under a variety of different pseudonyms. Using this particular pen-name to largely put out western oriented romance literature, she has been highly successful in building a name for herself. Creating a unique brand with the name she has also formed an extensive and impressive backlog of work to her name.

Early and Personal Life

Raised in America, the future author to be Ruth Ryan Langan always had a keen passion for literature and the written word. Setting up her many interests, one of them being westerns and romance, she’d start to refine and hone her skills over the following years. This would then lead to her becoming R.C. Ryan, just one of the many highly successful and reputable pseudonyms that she’d use.

A New York Times bestselling author and brand, the writer to be R.C. Ryan was actually born Detroit in Michigan in the United States. Born in 1937 on the 12th of December, she always had a strong passion for both reading and writing from a very early age. Always found to be constantly writing, she would create a number of novels just for herself even before getting anything published.

Starting out her career in secret almost, she would by herself and for herself, that is until she was discovered by her family. Seeing that this was a passion of hers, her husband brought her a typewriter and soon she was well on her way towards becoming a successful novelist. Following this she begun to amass a large quantity of books, leading to her having published a rough total of one hundred books to date.

Continuing to write to this present day, she still carries on with her career as a novelist and an author. Living in Michigan she is happily married along with five children, all of whom have supported her and encouraged her throughout her career. This looks like something that is set to carry on into the foreseeable future, as her writing career grows from strength-to-strength.

Writing Career

First using this particular pseudonym in 2010, Ruth Langan published her first novel titled ‘Montana Legacy’ that year. Setting up the series of McCords novels, the other two which she brought out the same year, she made a definite impact with this pen-name. Establishing her brand and identity with it, it quickly saw its appeal rising, despite releasing a number of works in a relatively short amount of time.

Most of Ruth Langan’s series under the name of R.C. Ryan revolve primarily around the western romance genre. Not just bringing out the ‘McCords’ series of novels, she has also released the ‘Copper Creek Cowboys’, ‘Malloys of of Montana’ and ‘Wyoming Sky’ under this name. Largely set around family names, many of whom come from Texas, they tell of traditional love stories that have a universal appeal.

Winning a number of awards too, she has also gained critical success, as well as commercial popularity and bestselling status. Highly regarded internationally as well as just nationally, her stories translate worldwide, with her themes also being universal. Knowing her market, she has found her niche with this particular brand, and it is one that has evidently traveled successfully.

She has also been a highly vocal spokesperson for her craft over the years, being an active advocate of her and her genre. Participating in the ‘Detroit Working Writers’ she is also a charter member of none other than the ‘Romance Writers of America’ too. All of this has allowed her to build her profile and gain a greater presence in her particular field and in the industry in general.

An extremely prolific writer she has effectively become an institution in a sense over the years, largely due to her extensive backlog of work. Knowing and understanding her genre, she’s clearly a writer who’s self-aware of her style and what she wants to achieve, something which her many readers have also come to appreciate over the years. With a lot more planned on the horizon it doesn’t look like she’s stopping anytime soon either, as there’s a lot more to come in the near future.

Montana Glory

First brought out on the 14th of October in 2010, this title was released not long after the first two, it being the third title in the ongoing ‘McCords’ series of novels. Originally released through the ‘Forever’ publishing label, this was a highly popular and successful installment from the author. Finalizing the series overall, it also helped round off the beginning to Ruth Langan’s time writing under the brand of R.C. Ryan, as it helped establish the brand.

Returning home to his ranch Zane McCord has found that his brothers are happily married, something which he never saw for himself. Hoping to help them search their family legacy in the form of thought to be long-lost treasure, he’s determined to remain a bachelor until he dies. Riley Mason believes this is what she wants as well as she heads to the ranch to help with their accounting, but events start to take a different direction. Will they find the treasure? What will become of Riley and Zane? Who will claim the Montana glory?

Jake

Published through the ‘Forever’ publishing label once again, this was first brought out in 2013 on the 26th of February. Setting up the third title in the ongoing ‘Wyoming Sky’ series of novels, it follows in much the same vein as the previous books. Taking place largely in Wyoming they follow the Conway family, with a set of brothers and the love-lives, although they do work as separate stand-alones.

This novel sees one Jake Conway living in Wyoming as a veterinarian who is good with his hands and single. Seemingly happy with the bachelor life he doesn’t think he needs anyone else, that is until a sultry redhead turns up in his local town. Inheriting her father’s ranch after he dies, Meg Stanford is looking to settle the estate, but after some break-ins she finds herself running to safety and into Jake’s arms. Will they ever get together? Can she ever get over the painful memories that the ranch holds for her? What will become of Jake?

Unfortunately not. It’s a novella and released in ebook version only. Sometimes authors attach novellas to future books but that doesn’t seem to be the case here sadly.
