R. D. Brady is an American writer that grew up on Long Island, New York but made her home in both the South and Midwest before settling down in upstate New York.

On her way to becoming a full time writer, she got her PhD in Criminology and taught for ten years at a small liberal arts college. Brady has lectured and written numerous academic articles on the genetic influence on criminal behavior, factors which influence terrorist ideology, and delinquent behavior formation.

In 2013, she left the glamorous life of grading papers behind with her first novel, “The Belial Stone”, getting published. Brady’s novels tap into her criminology background, her years spent studying martial arts, and the unexplained aspects of our history.

She is a reader. Which means that she might have a problem. She is not fully content unless she has a book sitting by her bedside. And when she finds a really good book, she has been known to totally disappear into it. The world could implode and until she has reached the final page, she will not even notice.

It’s not her day job, however. There are very few jobs that would pay her to read the books she wanted. Hence the PhD in Criminology and becoming a professor. As a professor, she was able to read the stuff she wanted, it is just that the stuff had to have a crime angle, which slowed up her reading just a bit.

After she visited counter terrorism units in Israel, she returned back home with a sabbatical in front of her and decided it was time to try and write a book that she had been thinking about. Just four years later she left academia with her first book’s publication.

When it came to writing her own novels, she learned from the books that she enjoyed reading, and from a lifetime of studying human motivations and martial arts. It means that her novels are filled with suspense, action, and a healthy dose of ‘what if’.
