The Kennedy Connection
The Kennedy Connection is the first book in the Gil Malloy series. It stars Gil Malloy, a discredited reporter who has been on an unlucky streak for a while.
After publishing a few articles without confirming all the details, Gil loses his credibility as well as his New York Daily highly successful column. Now he is at the bottom of the pecking order, and he will have to do an extraordinary story to get back at the top. While he is determined to do everything it takes, he makes another mistake, and the paper has no option but to let him go. Gil’s losses caused him panic attacks, and he has been seeing a therapist.
Things start looking up when a friend hooks him up with a story about a shooting that happened close to a decade ago. In the course of his investigation, Gil is requested to interview someone claiming that he is Lee Harvey Oswald’s son. This man claims that his father wasn’t responsible for JFK’s killing, and he has proof to back this claim. What more details will Gil gather from this man? Could there be some truth in his claim? Is it true that Lee Harvey was nowhere near Dallas when the assassination occurred?

It has been 50 years since President John Kennedy was assassinated, and someone has started killing people on New York City streets. The bizarre thing is that in every crime scene, the killer leaves a calling card that takes the investigators back to the events of that dark day in Dallas. Could there be a connection between the recent killings and the assassination that happened close to half a century ago? Gil launches his investigation and soon uncovers buried secrets that put his life in danger. More powerful forces are afraid that Gil is getting too close to the truth, and eliminating him would be the only way to keep these secrets hidden.

The author weaves these two suspenseful tales together into an intense thriller while offering a new spin to the speculations surrounding JFK’s killing. Follow Gil as he races to stop the killers before more innocent lives are lost. Fortunately, he has his ex-wife’s support amidst all that is happening around him. Aside from Gil, the book is filled with people who are brave, scared, evil, and capable of making mistakes just like the rest of us.

The Kennedy Connection is an entertaining and solid thriller. Everything about it is just right. The conversations are intriguing, the locations and motives are believable, and the protagonist is flawed but easy to love. While all the answers are clear from the beginning, the plot is so tight you will not want to put down the book until you have read it to the last page. This book is ideal if you are looking for a mystery story that comes with all the right ingredients.

Yesterday’s News
Yesterday’s News is the first book in the Clare Carlson series. The book gives a news reporter’s account of a disappearance that happened over ten years ago and the events that follow many years later. Clare Carlson was the journalist who broke the news about Lucy Devlin’s disappearance. The young girl disappeared on her way to school, never to be seen again. Clare had extraordinary access to the Devlin family. Thanks to her coverage in this story that shook the country, she was awarded a Pulitzer Prize.

Now eleven years have passed, and the case remains unresolved. While the world forgot about the case, Lucy’s mother never did. Now dying and with new evidence, Lucy’s mum reaches out to Clare Carlson, hoping that her daughter’s disappearance will be resolved once and for all. Clare is currently in management, but the passionate journalist is willing to put her career aside and help solve this decades-old mystery.

The new list of suspects involves motorcycle gang members and a prominent politician about to join the US Senate. Clare will quickly uncover these people’s secrets, but she will realize that she also needs to confront her demons as well. Join Clare on this thrilling journey characterized by shocking revelations and near-death experiences. Will Clare’s efforts pay in the end, or is this all in vain? How does she take down people who seem to have eyes everywhere she goes?

This is an intriguing book with a solid plot, a relentless pace, and a lead character you cannot help but love. The story about Lucy’s disappearance will pull at your heartstrings while Clare’s dedication to finding the truth is admirable. Away from the story, the author delves into ethics in news reporting. There are also some pivotal twists here and there that help escalate the tension to impossible levels. The cast is intriguing, and there are many characters you will love to hate and those you will wish never to meet again.

Yesterday’s news is a well-written crime thriller about a young girl who went missing many years ago. While the news sparked a nationwide outcry, the case remained unresolved, and many, including the child’s father, had already moved on. The journalist who broke the news is pulled back in this story when the now dying mother provides new evidence that could expose those responsible for her daughter’s disappearance. Many coincidences later, the protagonist is successfully piecing the puzzle. However, she has to act quickly and safeguard herself from people keen to continue hiding the truth. While this story is tightly wound, it is also easy and perfect if you are in the mood for a quick read.
