Playing With Fire
Playing With Fire is the debut in the Magical Romantic Comedies series. Bailey is a human barista employed in a coffee house for supernatural creatures where every order slings pixie dust. Catering has always been a tough job on a good day, considering that Bailey has other options.

Spiking the drinks with pixie dust is what makes the customers happy. She is displeased knowing she’ll have to stay without serving police Chief Quinn especially because she’s the one who destroyed a marriage.

Years earlier, while she was testing her magic, she got into some trouble, and at the same time, Chief Quinn was asking for her help. Years later, he lives unhappily and is divorced, and always blames Bailey for his problems. When someone tries to kill her in her apartment using gorgon dust, she begins a series of adventures to find out why someone wants her dead.

She’s targeted with a bomb that contains gorgon dust, which can transform her home into a stone bomb. Bailey’s also looking for someone who’ll help her, and lucky for her, her crush is a police chief, but Bailey informed him of his wife having an affair. She’s so sure that he doesn’t want anything to do with her anymore.

Now Quinns’s ex -brother in law is asking for her help, and even though she knows she should say no, she can’t resist his gaze. Just as Bailey thinks her life is progressing well, Chief Quinn’s ex-wife starts making her life a living hell. It’s up to her to use any trick she knows to survive Quinn’s angry wife’s revenge. After all, the last thing she thinks of is falling for the Manhattan’s most wanted bachelor.

Quinn is a long-suffering police chief who has always worked with Bailey as a contractor, and he keeps telling her how much he’s interested in her. He has his things to hide, but the author reveals them later in the story.

Playing with Fire is a romantic comedy novel as there are lots of funny moments that’ll leave the reader laughing out loud. The story is quick and engaging, with amazing supporting characters and a fun take on Manhattan. The dialogue is marvelous, and the magic meant the story unique.

The world-building throughout the novel was on point, making the story fascinating. Bailey was a unicorn, and her transformations were too hilarious for someone not to laugh at them. Her ethical decisions and protectiveness towards humankind were likable no matter the situation.

The novel has excess humor, magic romance, and a unicorn going on a mission of destruction.

Booked for Murder
Booked for Murder is the debut in the Vigilante Magical Librarians series. Janette has been a bodyguard for the rich and powerful her entire life. She knows that it’s a dangerous job, even if it’s on a good day after the job left her with a crippling injury while on duty.

Janette got involved in a car accident, which made her lose the hope of ever waking up again and alone surviving, but she beat all the odds. She has been left with few options, and since she can’t walk and has signed a life contract, she makes good use of her skills to disappear.

She’s currently working as a librarian, which seems to suit her very much. The job wants her for her knowledge, and it doesn’t matter that she limps. Sometimes she’s forced to use a cane to walk when she can’t do it well. She presents herself as a colorfully dressed librarian with fancy glasses and a can and feels that nobody will recognize her.

She created a new life to stay away from the contract she had with her former boss and her parents
she’s surrounded by books and is lucky to have a lady as her best friend. However, when the best friend of her previous employer is killed on the steps of the library, her old secret and old loyalties will either set her free or destroy her life.

When her ex-boss shows up at the library door, Janet has no clue what he will do. So that he can’t find her, she tries to hide under the stairs, but the boss finds her. They start the investigation while still arguing with each other.

She unites with her colleagues to find the killer, hoping she will not be booked for murder if she does it carefully. Through the investigation, she finds out how far her ex-boss can go to reclaim what belongs to him.

Janette knew her ex-employer was powerful and dangerous, but she didn’t imagine that he was willing to do everything in his power to get her back. Can they end up together, fall in love, and be happy ever after?

Booked for Murder is an easy read with characters having many issues. R.J Blain is imaginative and finds exciting ways to put off the characters. The heroine is lovable due to her messy sense of humor.

Hoofin’ it
Hoofin’It is the second installment in the Magical Romantic Comedies series. One of the things that Shane ever wanted was to get away from his broken career for some time. He chose to go to New York to distract from his unexpected and forced retirement from the police force.

However, New York gave a distraction with three corpses and a little alpaca with an attitude and spitting problem. One of the bodies’ dropped from the sky into a car next to him. The passenger and the car driver die, and he finds a min alpaca in the back seat.

He takes the alpaca home in Nebraska, and while walking around, Shane is attacked, and the alpaca is stolen, and that’s when the hell breaks loose for him. To go back to his ordinary life, he will have to face a sex trafficking agency that targets the woman of his dreams, dangerous criminals, vampires, parents, and an FBI agent with some hidden agenda.

At this point, he realizes that sometimes life isn’t easy for ex-cops. Be sure to come across action, magic, romance, excitement, and lots of humor scenes.
