It Happened One Valentine's Day(2013)Description / Buy at Amazon

Rachel Gibson was born in Boise, Idaho in the US. Her parents were not particularly rich or well off. In fact, her father was employed in a telephone company while her mother stayed home and took care of the family. What makes Idaho so special is that it is home to the largest number of Basques outside of Spain.

Gibson grew up in a home where her siblings had some very Basque-like names. It was only much later in her life that she got to learn that most Americans did not know anything about the Basques – including their culture and history. At the tender age of sixteen, Gibson on a trip in her Chevy Vega rammed the car into a hill. This episode was to change her life forever. Rachel Gibson is currently residing in Idaho where she and her husband and three children along with a couple of cats and a dog all live as one happy family. Gibson began writing at the tender age of sixteen. Her first book of fiction was written after Gibson rammed her car into a hill. She was a very ingenious person who thought quickly. She got the bumper of her car back and then drove her car back to a parking lot. There, she distributed pieces of broken glass and then went home where she told her parents that she had been hit by someone who never stopped to help her. Her tale was told in such a convincing manner that her parents had no hesitation in believing her. This probably motivated her to start cooking up even more plausible stories, which she then converted into books.

After completing her high school education, Rachel married her husband and by the time she had attained the age of twenty-five she and her husband had given birth to three children. On one occasion, she had some trouble with her television set. Not knowing what to do, she picked up a book to read. It was the first romantic novel that she had read. Shirlee Busbee wrote the book, The Spanish Rose and it caught the young Rachel’s imagination and it may also have been another thing that motivated her into becoming an author. Six years after reading that book, Gibson published her maiden novel.

Today, she is a well-known American writer whose specialty is to write romance novels that are set in contemporary settings. She is an author whose books have variously been described as edgy and fun as well as sexy. She has already written sixteen books and a couple of short stories. Her body of work speaks volumes about her ability to captivate the reader with some very well written romantic novels. Her first novel was called Simply Irresistible and it was published in 1998. This novel catapulted Gibson to fame and success, as it became a bestseller. After the publication of this book, Gibson went on to win a RITA Award as well as the Golden Heart Award. She even won the National Reader’s Choice and many other awards. In fact, her book The Trouble with Valentine’s Day won her the Borders Books Best Romantic Comedy of 2006 award. In 2002, she won the RITA Awards Best Contemporary Novel winner award for her book True Confessions. And, seven years later in 2009, she again won the RITA Award Best Contemporary Novel winner award for her book Not Another Bad Date.

Some of her books that have become very popular include I Do, Crazy Sweet Fine and What I Love About You. Gibson writes with a very fresh voice. Her first novel was also listed among the top ten favorite novels. True Confessions was her fourth book and it won Gibson the RITA. Today, Rachel continues to live in Boise and when she is not busy penning novels, Gibson finds time to go boating on Payette Lake with her husband. Her other activities involve buying shoes and forcing her attentions on her cat.

Rachel Gibson is an author who has an uncanny ability to write romantic novels that are both quirky as well as sordid. From writing about love triangles to writing about love gone wrong, she has written a diverse number of novels that have not only taxed her abilities as a writer but also caught the imagination of her readers who seem to lap up each tale with vigor. Some of her books have also been turned into audiobooks. Tangled Up in You is an example of the books written by Rachel Gibson that have been turned into audio books.

Simply Irresistible

Simply Irresistible was Gibson’s first book. It involved the character of Georgeanne Howard who was a school graduate and an extraordinaire woman of the South. At the altar, Howard leaves her soon-to-be husband because she came to the realization that he was too old for her. Despite his well-to-do status, she could not compromise and with the help of John Kowalsky she escapes. Kowalsky soon comes to realize that he has helped his boss’s future bride to escape. He is a great hockey player who is in his prime. The escape at night culminates with him and Georgeanne giving in to temptation.

Later, they meet again and Howard is a celeb and he has lost his vigor. He is really surprised to learn that that one night of temptation produced a daughter. Georgeanne has always been in love with him but is that enough for her to marry him? Will he win her over and prove that his love is true? The novel spins a wonderful tale of romance.

It Must Be Love

This is another novel written by Rachel Gibson. The story involves an undercover cop called Joe Shanahan whose luck turned really bad when he came across a beautiful suspect called Gabrielle Breedlove. She had revealed who he was and had cut him down. His latest assignment was to pretend that he was Breedlove’s boyfriend. The trouble was that the closeness that he shared with her complicated things immensely. Joe is good looking and well built and muscular. Would Breedlove be attracted to him, even though he was trying to find some evidence against her? The two make love and the experience convinces Gabrielle that she is truly in love with Joe.

Hello, my daughters and I have just discovered your books. We absolutely love them. We have one problem though. All of them aren’t available on audible. Unfortunately, we don’t have time to sit and read. We can listen and do everything from cooking and cleaning to working out. Please, please make them all available for listening pleasure. 😊
