Rebecca Barber
Rebecca Barber is just an introverted, clumsy, bubble bath loving, chocoholic that would much rather read a book than go shopping. And don’t even mention shoe shopping to her!
She is a lucky girl, one of four kids to school teacher parents. Wife of a football obsessed husband. Aunt to the most adorable/crazy little girls. And sister to two very determined sisters and an easy going brother.
She is a book whore that can happily (and easily) read a book from start to finish in a single sitting and spends her spare time writing.
The best part of being a writer is having the chance to listen to all of the voices in her head and getting them out.
One book came to her as a dream/nightmare that when she woke up she was unable to shake the feelings that it had invoked. It was consuming and full on and left her a bit breathless. And this became the first four chapters of the story.
When she has writer’s block, she gets herself away from what she’s working on. Go to a restaurant and just people watch or go for a walk. She finds she gets more out of watching other people than she does from anything else.
“Perfection is Just an Illusion” is the first novel in the “Swimming Upstream” series and was released in 2015. James Thompson is an Olympic swimmer with world records, gold medals, and million-dollar sponsorship deals. However his fiancee Anna White is only an ordinary girl, or so she believes. When James takes her home for a visit and encounters her childhood friends and a jealous and sleazy ex-boyfriend, named Grant, he sees for the very first time exactly how far apart their worlds truly are. Anna’s so-called friends backstab and undermine, however James is up for the challenge.
James is determined to make Anna see that even though she may have once been an ugly duckling, she is now a stunning swan, and the only woman for him. While the London World Championships approach, media scrutiny of their relationship intensifies, and one intimate secret is unearthed, which makes their promise to one another almost impossible to keep.
Caught up in a whirlwind of press coverage, and championship competition. Anna and James find the stress almost overwhelming, and they struggle to maintain their focus on achieving their goals. However when victory appears certain finally, one old menace resurfaces and threatens to violate everything that Anna and James hold dear. Could it be possible to have a perfect life? A perfect love? Or is perfection only an illusion?
“Coming Home” is the first novel in the “Finding Your Place” series and was released in 2016. Running away was Zoe Sinclair’s answer to her problems.
Zoe has missed far too much since she fled from home a decade ago. Now it’s time to finally go back. And with her friend’s birthday party just days away, it’s the perfect chance. On her way into town, her car breaks down on her, and then she is attacked and left for dead among the dust and dirt on the roadside.
Spencer McLaren never left home, however his heart did. The same moment that Zoe fled. Spencer had always been in Zoe’s life. Every single time she had needed him, he had been there for her, with arms open wide. When he spots a battered and broken Zoe stumbling along the side of the road, he cannot help but swoop in and rescue her. He rushes her to the hospital, however when she gets released, he cannot seem to just let her go. Not again.
Physically, she feels fine. Emotionally, her heart and her head are just a disaster. Spencer takes Zoe into his home and assigns himself the tasks of nurse and guardian. However her returning puts a strain on his relationship with his brother, who’s not too happy to see Spencer is falling for the girl that broke his heart again. Zoe knows that she should just leave, however her attacker is still out there, and being with Spencer is the one and only place that she feels safe. She wants to make up for all the pain that she caused him in the past, but the attack has left her so afraid and broken.
Despite her hesitations and constant battle to keep all of her emotions in check, Spencer is determined to protect her and make her never regret coming home finally.
“Taking Charge” is the first novel in the “Meet the McIntyres” series and was released in 2017. Beau McIntyre knew that the party was going to have to end at some point, he just never realized that it would end so soon. After getting this frantic phone call from his little brother, he’s forced to face his responsibilities and go back to the small country town and the farm that he grew up on.
After finding her fiance in bed with some other woman, Payton packs her life and livelihood up and escapes from her personal torment by fleeing out to the country. Settling down in a small town, she works her butt off in order to establish her bakery and turn her dreams into everything that she has ever wanted.
The moment that Beau meets the voluptuous Payton, there is this instant spark and he soon decides that despite the drama his family is facing, she could be the one good thing in his life. Only problem is that Payton clearly doesn’t have any interest in anything more than just a night or two of unbridled passion.
Is Beau going to be able to convince Payton to give him a chance of something more, by letting go of her painful past?
Beau caught readers’ attention right away, as he’s just an easy character to like, which goes for Payton, too, she’s easy to relate to in so many ways that you can really feel sorry for her and the situation that she finds herself in. The novel has a good back story for both of these characters, with a lot of humor and a few hot and pulse pounding moments happening between them.
