The American based author Rebecca Kertz is a highly respected one who has had a long and illustrious writing career spanning over a number of years, with a variety of different books behind, mostly set within the romance genre, and all reflecting her strong sense of faith in the Christian religion, something which sets her apart from the rest in her field. She is also largely interested in those involved within the Amish communities, a theme that she continually returns to throughout her writing career, creating many of her stories and ideas in the process. This also allows her to explore her own views on religion and love, along with the search for happiness and meaning in the world, a set of themes which her many readers also keep coming back to time and time again.

Early and Personal Life

Born and raised in America, the author to be Rebecca Kertz always had an affinity for the rural life outdoors. This would become a recurring theme throughout her career, as she find herself constantly returning to it as a subject of interest. Using this as inspiration for much of her material over the years, she was able to build herself a highly successful writing career off the back of this particular interest.

Educated to a high standard, she would continually return to her love and passion for writing throughout her education. Always learning and always refining and honing her craft, she was someone that would constantly develop her and her voice as an author. With her mind fixed on writing for a living, she was determined and focused, something that never went away over the years to follow.

Ever since her husband took a position working as part of an Amish construction crew, she found herself becoming increasingly fascinated with the community and their way of life. Immersing herself in the culture, she quietly observe, whilst exchanging recipes with the wife of the foreman there. This would allow her to gain an insight into their culture unlike any other, thus giving her work a greater degree of accuracy.

With a clear love of the rural way of life, she has always had an affinity for the great outdoors of Delaware. Maintaining a strong faith in god, she also allows this to inform much of her and her work, as she continue to live with her husband and write full-time. Showing no signs of stopping anytime soon, she will carry on into the foreseeable future, as her writing career grows from strength-to-strength.

Writing Career

Making her initial debut onto the literary scene with the novel ‘Noah’s Sweetheart’ in 2013, this was the first in the ongoing ‘Lancaster County Weddings’ series of novels. This soon developed over the course of the following novels, something which ultimately allowed her to progress as an author. With a clear goal set in mind, Kertz was to be a highly focused an articulate writer, something that can clearly be seen from the very beginning of her career.

Comprised of five books so far and counting, the ‘Lancaster County Weddings series has been Kertz’s most popular one to date. Basing themselves on love, they use the traditional tropes of love, relocating them into the heart of the Amish community. This look at the lives and loves of the Amish is something that Rebecca Kertz has managed to capture in very fine and intricate detail as an author.

Winning awards and nominations for her work, she has been able to create a writing career that is both critically and commercially successful. Not only that, but she is also appreciated on an international scale, as well as a national one, with readers from all across the globe looking towards her work. Besides writing she also enjoys taking part in outdoor activities, along with reading and other creative crafts, always keeping herself busy. This is something that will continue for some time to come, as she carries on writing with a lot more planned on the horizon.

A Wife for Jacob

Setting up the third title in the ongoing ‘Lancaster County Weddings’, this continues in much the same vein as before. Brought out through the ‘Love Inspired’ publishing label, this was originally released on the 10th of February in 2015 to much acclaim. Carrying on in much the same vein as before, it manages to continue a lot of the themes and ideas, building upon them in the process.

With Jacob Lapp having loved Annie Zook since their childhood, he’s always yearned for her yet is constantly rejected. Soon, though, he finds himself working in the blacksmith shop of her father, and realizes he might have been given another opportunity to court her. What she is looking for is someone older and far more established than him, so he finds that he’s going to have to prove himself if he ever hopes to have a chance. Will they ever become an item? Is she beyond ever loving him? Can they ever find a wife for Jacob?

Loving Isaac

Brought out in 2016 through the ‘Love Inspired’ publishing house once again, this was set to mark the fifth title in the ongoing ‘Lancaster County Weddings’ series of novels. Released on the 20th of September, this managed to bring about many of the same themes and ideas as before, whilst also providing some twists and turns along the way. Setting itself in the Amish community once more, it manages to further elaborate on the lives and loves of these people and their way of living.

This time telling the story of Isaac Lapp, it sees him trying to re-establish order back into his life, and reclaim his reputation as well. Meeting up with Ellen Mast once more, an old friend from his childhood, he finds that their might be something else between them now. If she’s ever to trust him though, she must feel that he’s loyal, something which is to be tested as he also begins to look beyond the walls of his community. Will they find themselves together? Can Isaac keep himself from temptation? Is Ellen going to find herself loving Isaac?
