Regina Jeffers is an American bestselling and award-winning novelist who writes contemporary regency era romances, Austenesque retellings and sequels and historical cozy mysteries. Over the years and before she became a professional author, she held all manner of jobs from a media literacy consultant, daughter, grant writer, student, history buff, a military brat, theatre director, wife, Broadway dancer, mother, choreographer, grandmother, journalist, teacher and tax preparer. She writes novels that use ordinary events and things in life and combines it with mayhem and a little bit of tension to make for some excellent reads. She currently lives in Charlotte, North Carolina and loves to garden when she gets the time.

For Regina Jeffers, writing is a passion that she has always had alongside teaching. She has been a master teacher for nearly four decades and has taught English to public school students in North Carolina, Ohio and West Virginia. Still, she does not describe herself as a teacher as her family and students assert that she is passionate about all manner of things. Among other things she is passionate about include track and field, her son, the BBC, children in need, classic movies, truth, pro football, responsibility, the theatre, the value of a good education, dance, music, words and of course books. She has several degrees and is the Media Literacy and Language Arts consultant to several school districts and serves on national and state educational commissions. Jeffers is a Crystal Apple Finalist, Time Warner Star Teacher and Martha Holden Jennings Scholar though she only recently decided to become a professional author. She started out on a professional career when one of her students challenged her to do what she had always been encouraging them to do. On a whim, she went on to write and self-publish “Darcy’s Passions” her debut novel, which she got one of her former students to draw the cover for. Jeffers wrote the book for her students rather than for herself and never thought it would ever amount to much. But then things just blew up when she got contacted by Ulysses Press who had seen how many sales the novel was racking on Amazon. They offered to print the novel and that was the beginning of her professional career as an author.

Nonetheless, Jeffers’s first love is teaching and while she is now an author she still holds a day job as a teacher and writes her novels at night. Having taught theatre, trained dance teams and flag lines and participated in community-based and professional productions, she asserts that teaching gives her the opportunity to keep her creative juices flowing. When she now writes her novels she writes them similar to how she used to choreograph dance routines for her theater and dance teams. She often writes the scenes in her head just like she would when writing a theatre scene. She then lets it play in her head for several days rewriting and tweaking, before putting it on paper. After publishing “Darcy’s Passions” she decided to get into contemporary and Regency romance where she has had a lot of success. She believes every woman dreams of a soul mate who ignites an immediate emotional response with a glance from across the room. As such, she writes her novels to showcase the love affair between a heroine and hero. However, she believes that what makes her novels so great is that they have character-driven conflict and they showcase a connection between the characters beyond sex appeal. The stories also need to have believable reasons that make the two leads to be drawn to each other in addition to getting frustrated by their dreams. The combination of these factors is what makes for the haunting and beautiful stories that Jeffers has become very well known for.

Regina Jeffers “The Disappearance of Georgiana Darcy” is a dark tale of a young woman locked up in a dark dungeon in a ghoulish castle. She does not remember anything from her past and thinks she is falling for the estate master who is also her captor. But trusting the man before she gets back her memory would probably unearth some dark truths that would be nothing short of a catastrophe. In another estate named Pemberly, the Darcys could not be happier as they come together for the marriage of Kitty Bennet. It was supposed to be a celebration but a dark cloud hangs over the party since Georgiana has yet to be found. She had gone missing without a trace and when Darcy heard of his sister’s disappearance he knew he had to do something. Alongside his wife Elizabeth, they had embark on a mission across the English countryside and ultimately to the menacing and unfamiliar moors of Scotland. It is going to be tough for Darcy to protect his sister from one of the biggest threats she has ever had to deal with. What makes it even more complicated is that he does not even know if she is alive. True to Austen’s style, the novel is filled with heroic gestures, dramatic revelations and malicious villains to make for a suspense-packed mystery.

In Jeffers’ “The Mysterious Death of Mr. Darcy,” Fitzwilliam Darcy is devastated as his wedding joy is disrupted by the news that Samuel Darcy his favorite uncle is dead. Taking his wife Darcy travels to the popular Regency resort town named Dorset, where they are to pay their last respects to the eccentric and well-traveled Samuel. But what was to be a summer holiday and send off turns into something more dangerous despite the tranquil exterior of the town. Danger stalks them as soon as they step into town as foreboding and strange events dog their footsteps. Samuel’s body goes missing and they later discover that some of the ancient treasures he had collected are nowhere to be found. As Elizabeth and Darcy investigate the mysterious happenings, they learn that they are connected to the dark and haunting legends of Dorset. Their love is put to the ultimate test when the sinister forces target them. Darcy is determined to find answers though this puts a lot of strain on their relationship and could even destroy his relationship with Elizabeth.

Regina Jeffers’ fourth novel “The Prosecution of Mr. Darcy’s Cousin” opens to Fitzwilliam living in marital bliss. Elizabeth Bennet his ex-wife had given him two sons which is all he could ever want. But things turn ugly when he gets a letter from Georgina. Darcy always had misgiving about Georgiana getting into a relationship with Major General Edward Fitzwilliam their cousin. He was an aloof man and Darcy thought that any relationship with the man would just lead to unhappiness for Georgina. Dutifully, Elizabeth and Darcy run to help Georgina when the general ups and leaves without a word. Darcy now has to find the major general in London’s dangerous underbelly. After many days of searching, he is successful and the man returns home even though their troubles are far from over. While he was away from home, he had been seen in an area where there had been reported two ghastly murders. When Fitzwilliam is arrested for the homicides, Darcy needs to find the real criminal and save his cousin from being charged for a crime that may destroy him and his family’s name.
