About Richard Paolinelli

Mostly writing mystery and thriller novels, the American novelist Richard Paolinelli is extremely well regarded within his particular field. Using elements of science-fiction as well, he takes the reader on a journey, transporting them to far off lands and whole new universes. With a rich and inventive imagination, he really knows exactly what it is that he’s doing through his work, allowing it to essentially come alive off of the page. Keeping the reader constantly guessing too, he is definitely adept at crafting an intriguing narrative too, keeping his audience hooked throughout. With a number of series in his back catalog too, he is definitely a writer who will continue to make a substantial impression on the industry in the following years to come.

Early and Personal Life

Born in 1964 in Turlock, California, Richard Paolinelli would begin his lifelong love of writing from a very early age. Taking to the craft when he was young, he’d gain experience early on, starting out in 1984, as he would come to reach a wider audience with his work. Starting out as a freelance writer, he would gain prominence, quickly rising up in the field, with many people fast becoming interested in his work and what he had to offer.

Over time he would begin to gain a lot more experience, as he would come to focus largely on science-fiction as a genre, learning about it whilst writing shorter stories at first. He would also work in the field of sport’s writing for quite some time too, with much of his work being published regularly throughout a number of wide-reaching publications. This would continue throughout much of the nineties, leading to the career that he currently enjoys to this day, as he continues to write from his home in Omaha, Nebraska.

Writing Career

Starting out in Odessa, Texas, as a freelance writer, Richard Paolinelli would begin his writing career in 1984. This would see him mostly writing for comic books, creating a large number of science-fiction series and franchises, as he would write for Elite Comics. Then, in 1991, he would go on and begin his career as a sports writer, which would see him feature in various publications, such as the Turlock Journal and the Tracy Press.

Giving him a clear idea and concept of writing for a mass-audience on a regular basis, this would provide him with further insight into his own writing processes. Retiring as a sports writer in 2010, he would finally turn to writing fiction for himself, focusing on his own science-fiction and fantasy novels. Writing non-fiction titles as well, many of them accounting sporting facts and figures, he was then well on his way to becoming a major figure in the literary industry, and he hasn’t looked back since.

Reservations

Initially published through the ‘Oak Tree Press’ publishing imprint, this would provide a stand-alone mystery novel. First released in 2015, it was originally brought out on the 24th of September, with it being published to much acclaim worldwide. It would also give another side to the writing of Paolinelli, with it being a more realistic novel, set in the real, modern, everyday world.

A mystery thriller novel, this really manages to take its subject matter and really work with it, making the most of it throughout. Using the culture of the Native Americans, it looks into life on the reservations themselves, giving an authentic and genuine portrayal of what life is really like there. It also keeps the reader guessing constantly, it what is an involving and interesting mystery thriller story that’s well written and taut. The characters are also very well established too, coming to life off the page and guiding the reader through their world.

With the Hopi, Navajo and Zuni reservations all adjacent to one another, the story itself takes place in Gallup, New Mexico. That’s when three tribal leaders are murdered, and it is feared that it is the work of ‘Coyote’; an evil and legendary trickster feared throughout the Native American community. Calling his friend from the FBI, the tribal president then gets their star agent, one Jack Del Rio, to help them on the case and find the culprit. This then turns into a mystery and conspiracy of political corruption that runs deep, as Del Rio finds himself embedded deep within it all. Will he manage to get to the bottom of the case? Who really killed the three tribal leaders? What is the truth behind the mystery of the reservations?

Escaping Infinity

First published through the ‘Tuscany Bay Publishing’ label, this would initially come out on the 14th of January in 2017. Working as a science-fiction and fantasy infused mystery novel, it would be a stand-alone novel with an entirely self-contained narrative. Keeping the reader hooked with its foreboding sense of mystery and the inexplicable, it manages to provide an entertaining and fun story.

Seeming to take a lot of its inspiration from shows such as the ‘Twilight Zone’, this combines mystery with an element of the paranormal. Guiding the reader along gently, it allows them to find out what’s really going on at the same pace as the protagonists themselves. This ensures that the story is a highly involving and entertaining one, really getting to the heart of what the story itself is about. The world itself is also extremely well drawn too, lending a sense of the eerie over the entire proceedings, with an almost claustrophobic atmosphere and ambiance.

Many have checked into the ‘Infinity Hotel’ over the years, but even fewer have checked out, as mysteries surround the establishment. On their way to make an all important presentation, the engineers Charlie Womack and Peter Childress have found themselves arriving at the hotel one night after getting lost. It is here they find a whole host of wonderful facilities, but something appears to be horribly wrong, as the hotel doesn’t seem to be in the right place or time, with guests constantly disappearing a reappearing, along with endless floors. This leads to them both trying to escape with a morning that never arrives, as they just cant seem to front door back to the outside world. Will they ever manage to escape the hotel? Can they solve the mystery of the establishing itself? What will happen to them both when they find themselves escaping infinity?
