Richard Roberts is a reputed American writer of fantasy, science fiction, and young adult novels and short stories. He is particularly famous for writing the Please Don’t Tell My Parents book series. Richard has also written The Doll House series as well as a few standalone books. He has contributed to a short story collection called Resistance Front for which he collaborated with authors like Miles Cressman, Alan Dean Foster, Bernard Schaffer, Natasha Whearity, Keri Knutson, Harlan Ellison, Douglas Lane, RJ Austac, Mike Lewis, etc. Richard says that he has been writing for a long time. In his earlier days as a writer, it was quite hard to get his books published. But, she did not lose hope and continued to work hard and write stories. Today, Richard is hooked up with a publishing company called Curiosity Quills. A number of his books available in print and ebook format. As an author, Richard has always been fascinated by children’s literature. His particular interest lies in the kind of stories that are suitable for both children’s literature and adult literature.

For reasons best known to him, Richard attempts to write gothic romances for fun and tragic and very dark young adult stories for passion. Before trying his luck in the field of writing, he worked in several other jobs. He has a classic history of employment wandering, including working in the health care sector, being an administrator and laboring in fast food’s front lines, breeding tarantulas, translating English shows for the Japanese audience, etc.

Richard holds a degree in the subject of entomology. He likes to wear all blacks all the time and laughs creepily about it. During his struggling days, Richard has also tried the classic pink slips and anthology submissions. He has even desperately scrounged to learn the working of an ever-changing system. Richard has gone through several horrible relationships in his life that have broken him from within and affected his self-confidence for many years. His writing mostly involves either gothic aesthetic or children’s stories or both. The fantasy stories penned by him are heavily influenced by fairy tales, mythology, and folk tales. It began in 2014 and features the main characters in the roles of Irene, Penelope Akk, and several others. Richard has described Penelope Akk as a supervillain girl studying in middle school. Penelope has the reputation of Bad Penny for being mean and unfriendly. She has a small team of hers called Team Tiny, which is comprised of herself, her small Spider and a machine called Instructible machine. The series shows that Penelope defeats every challenge thrown at her. She has won against heroes, weirdos, villains, aliens, rivals, robots, friends, natural disasters, enemies, and secret admirers. As the series progresses further, she experiences growth in her superpowers and becomes extremely powerful. The debut book of this series is entitled ‘Please Don’t Tell My Parents I’m a Supervillain’. It was released by the Curiosity Quills Press in 2014. This book opens by showing that Penelope Akk has the desire of becoming a superhero. Her parents are superheroes and she possesses high intelligence power.

Penelope is mad about science and has obtained crazy gadgets that help her to do all sorts of mad things. Her two best friends also join her in her madness Penelope thinks that the line between evil and good is clear is middle school, but not in real life. When she gets involved in a fight at school with the sidekick of a hero, Penelope gets labeled as a supervillain. This incident makes her realize that she is very good at being a villain. With the help of her friends, Instructible Machine and Spider, she beats criminal masterminds, war drones, ghosts heroes, shapeshifters, and other powerful entities. Penelope is desperate to win every battle because she wants to clear her name before her parents find out.

The second installment of this series is called ‘Please Don’t Tell My Parents I Blew Up The Moon’. It was also published by Curiosity Quill in 2014. This novel opens by mentioning that Penelope Akk comes back to her school after spending one whole month fighting and defeating adult superheroes. When she is given the offer of skipping school, she is not able to resist. Penelope constructs a spaceship with the assistance of a mysterious red goo and a giant spider and travels to Jupiter. As soon as she lands on Jupiter. She comes across weird elements like mutant goats, secret colonies of humans, robot overlords, and an ongoing war between 3 alien races to take control over humanity. She finds many more such things on the moons of Jupiter. When doesn’t find any heroes to fight, she decides to indulge herself in her mad science and discover what lies for her ahead. This book also gained a lot of popularity just like the previous one. It entertained a large number of readers all across the globe, who helped it in becoming successful by giving good reviews. The success motivated author Richard to add a few more titles in this series, which also achieved immense successes and popularity.
