Rick R. Reed is a popular American writer of romance, gay & lesbian, and horror novels. He has written several mind-blowing books in his career and is particularly famous for writing the Big Love series, Chase and Raining Men series, and the M4M series. His books have gained a lot of popularity in many foreign countries as well as in the entire United States. Rick draws his inspiration for writing stories from the lives of queers and gay men. He likes to craft stories that tend to engage emotions, quicken heartbeat, and make the readers keep turning pages. Although Rick dabbles in dark suspense, comedy, and horror, he always attempts to create stories describing the power of love. Rick has penned and published more 50 works of fiction in his writing career. He is known to be at work on a new book all the time and is hardly seen without his laptop.

Rick enjoys his status as a bestselling and award-winning author and the perks that it brings along. The Lambda Literary has labeled him as a writer who never disappoints. Author Rick is highly influenced by the works of some of the most prominent authors such as Ruth Rendell, Stephen King, Patricia Highsmith, Flannery O’Connor, James Purdy, etc. He always looks up to these writers whenever he feels the need to have some inspiration. Rick was born and brought up in East Liverpool, Ohio. His family comprised of his parents and a couple of sisters. Rick’s hometown is located on the outskirts of Ohio and is at a 45 minutes duration from Pittsburgh. His hometown is famous for pottery production, which can be witnessed in his book as well. Rick studied at Miami University, located in Oxford, Ohio, and obtained degrees in Mass Communication and English. His English degree comes with an emphasis on Creative Writing.

Following his graduation from college, Rick relocated to Chicago. He lived most of his adult life there. Chicago was so special and inspirational to him that he set the plots of most of his novels there. While he stayed in Chicago, he met his future wife, married her, and got divorced. He has a son named Nicholas with his former wife. Rick’s son is also gay like him and lives with his beloved husband named Tarik in Montreal, Quebec. The other places where Rick has lived include Tampa, Seattle, and Miami. As of today, he resides in Palm Springs, California. His husband’s name is Bruce. They both love to travel a lot. Rick’s love for writing started with a passion for developing stories that began when he was 4 years old. At the age of six, he wrote his first story. Rick was able to publish his first book in 1991. It was a horror novel called Obsessed. He followed it up with a second novel called Penance, which was labeled as ‘remarkable’ by Stephen King.

Since then, Rick has been writing gay-themed romances and stories with dark twists. His fifty works of fiction include novels, short stories, and novellas. During his spare time, Rick tries to keep his passion for stories intact by reading inspirational and interesting stories. Rick can never be found not reading something in his free time. He loves stories told in the form of theater and movies. Rick has worked as a theater critic for a period of nine years with Windy City Times, a Chicago weekly. Rick considers writing as an inherent part of his life. When he is not busy writing twisted, suspenseful tales, he keeps himself engaged as an advertising copywriter for catalogs, agencies, and associations. The other passions of author Rick include running, traveling, cooking, and hiking. He loves animals very much and has cared for them all his life. Rick is a supporter and volunteer for the Animal Shelter of Palm Springs. As of now, he is in the process of finishing a new novel and is expected to make it available for his fans to read and enjoy.

A popular series penned by author Rick R. Reed is known as Big Love series. It is comprised of two books in total, released between 2016 and 2018. This series contains the lead characters in the form of Dane Bernard, Seth Wolcott, Truman Reid, Mike Stewart, etc. The first book of this series is entitled ‘Big Love’. It was released by the Dreamspinner Press in 2016. Initially, Dane Bernard is introduced as a teacher working at Summitville High School. He has a wife and two kids. Dane is liked by all the students and staff at school. But, he has kept a secret hidden from others that he is gay. After the death of his wife, Dane starts confronting his attraction with men.

Dane immediately notices a new teacher named Seth Wolcott and starts making sexual advances at him. Seth is also gay and is trying to get over his recent breakup. When he Dane’s advances towards him, he too gets attracted to him. As Seth and Dane indulge into a passionate romance, they are called to the help of a gay student named Truman Reid, who is bullied by others. As Dane and Seth try to help Truman overcome his bullies and cherish his sexual orientation, they all learn important lessons about acceptance, coming to terms, falling in love, coming out, and heartbreak.

The second installment of this series is called ‘Bigger Love’. It was also published by Dreamspinner Press in 2018. This novel opens by depicting that Truman Reid has become a proud senior at his school. He looks forward to moving out of his small hometown and explore his uncompromising, fierce self. Truman hopes to move to a big city, where he can forget about bullies and enjoy the bright lights. He even dreams of being the first gay star to win the Oscar Award. But, all the plans of Truman Reid are put on hold when he gets attracted to a new gorgeous boy on the very first day at school. Mike Stewart has dark hair, blue eyes, and is big in size. He is manly, quiet, and doesn’t interact much with other students. In order to get close to Mike, Truman tries to get him included in the crew for the senior class play called Harvey. This seems to be a rather easy task for him as he is the director of the play. Truman wonders if Mike Stewart is even gay and how can he proceed to have a relationship with Mike when his mother is falling for his father.
