Early and Personal Life

Ricky Dene Gervais, now widely recognized as a talented British comedian and writer, was born on the 25th of June 1961, in Reading’s Battle Hospital, Berkshire. He was brought up in the suburb of Whitley in Reading, where he lived alongside his sister, Marsha, and brothers Robert and Larry. Having attended Whitley Park Infants and Junior Schools, Gervais transitioned to Ashmead Comprehensive School for his secondary education. Following a gap year, which he dedicated to gardening at the University of Reading, Gervais began his higher-education at University College London in 1980. Initially intrigued by biology, his interests eventually shifted to philosophy, leading him to earn an upper second-class honours degree in 1983 from the University of London. This phase of his life also marked the start of his lifelong relationship with Jane Fallon, which dates back to 1982.

Ricky Gervais now splits his time between residences in London, Hampstead, and Marlow, Buckinghamshire. Beyond the UK, he also owns an apartment in the Barbizon 63 building, located in Manhattan, New York City. First meeting in 1982, Gervais and Fallon have remained partners to this day.
