Robert Hanlon is a bestselling author of Western fiction whose real name has nothing to do with Westerns.
Hanlon was born in Michigan in 1954 and had a lot of success in business and in the military before he turned his attention to the publishing of Western fiction.
He has over the years developed a reputation for writing fiction that always provides a lot of entertainment for his readers, with all manner of twists and turns that will always leave you yearning for what happens next..
After graduating from college, Robert Hanlon joined the military where he worked for several years. It was while he was in his fifties that he left the military as he wanted to engage in more creative pursuits.
He would then move to New York City where he worked in the car industry, and the record industry before he moved into the book industry.
Even though Robert Hanlon loved working in the record industry, he was never special in that he was for the most part just a session producer. Even as he worked in recording, all he ever wanted was to pen fiction novels particularly Westerns.
While Hanlon has always been an avid reader even as a child, it would not be until he was in his fifties that he published his first novel. At only 19 he wrote his first novel and realized how much he loved writing Westerns as a genre.
However, he found the book industry to be particularly disorganized as compared to what he was used to when working in the record industry.
Even though he achieved some success, it was not until he signed with Dusty Saddle Publishing that he discovered that writing could be profitable and a lot of fun.
Robert Hanlon’s first published work was “Timber: United States Marshall,” which came out in 2018.
The novel would almost immediately become so popular that it would spawn the entire “Timber: United States Marshall,” which now has more than two dozen titles.
Robert Hanlon is also the author of other best-selling Westerns such as the “Black Gold,” and “The Way West Mountain Man” series of novels.
When some of his novels became bestsellers, he decided to quit the record business so that he could become a full-time author. He believes that he has found more joy in writing than he ever did in the military or business.
Just like he was ruthless in his two former careers, he has carried on that trait to make for some very engaging reads. He currently lives with his wife in Texas in the United States.
When he is not writing his blockbuster novels, he can usually be found fishing, spending time in the community, attending church, and enjoying his two grandchildren.
Robert Hanlon’s novel “Timber: United States Marshal” is a fascinating work of fiction that is a great introduction to the series.
The lead in the novel is a tortured man named Jake Timber. He found himself in hot water and now has to pay his debt to society after he avenged the brutal murders of his daughter and wife.
He works as a special agent charged with ensuring that the territory that he is in charge of is rid of all criminals. In his work, he gives no mercy and takes no prisoners.
Timber hunts down wanted men and is known for never asking questions while using the barrel of a gun to deliver his own brand of justice. As he travels across the land, he soon finds himself embroiled in a turf war in Heaven Brook.
It is a small town that has lived under the tyranny of two powerful men and it is up to him to bring their brutal rule to an end.
It is an action-filled novel with a lot of entertainment, twists, and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat from the first page to the last.
In the novel “The Guns of Gray Buffalo” by Robert Hanlon, Jake Timber the Marshall has been charged with a distasteful task.
He needs to get an Indian named Gray Buffalo to Denver from Fort Collins, where he is being held after he was accused of killing a stage line president.
The accused man’s people believe he is innocent and will not let him be taken to Denver without a fight. The fort comes under attack and the Greenhorn soldiers stationed there find themselves overwhelmed by the number of attackers.
Timber needs to be both an army officer and a marshall and attempts to teach the rookie soldiers how to beat back the furious Indians who threaten to overwhelm their highly fortified position.
Jake brings to them a logical and analytical approach to fighting and acceptance of how one needs to adapt to death and life in the West.
Will they be able to push back the attackers or will Fort Collins be overrun and everyone there killed?
It is a captivating story with every chapter leaving you itching to read the next making for a five-star masterpiece that proves that once again Robert Hanlon is an exceptionally talented author of Westerns.
Robert Hanlon’s “Clint Cain” is a standard and typical Western fiction story.
At the opening of the novel, we are introduced to a sixteen-year-old named Clint who is working on a ranch with a mule alongside his grandfather.
Ever since his father returned from fighting in the Civil War, he had become an alcoholic. An interesting thing is that his grandfather served as a Confederate Soldier while his father was in the Union Army.
When he is severely beaten by his father he leaves to go find his way as a cowboy. He joins up with a cattle drive headed to Colorado where a rancher takes him in and raises him as one of his own.
Full to the brim with gunsight justice, action, plot twists, and adventure it is a brilliant Western work that is engrossing from the first page right to the very last page.
